I'm terrible at picking strains. Which should I choose......

I just realized that I am terrible at choosing strains. I usually end up keeping the freebies instead of the strains that I actually purchase.

Sooooo.....to all of you connoisseurs out there who live in legal states and have had the opportunity to grow out and smoke a million different strains, if you could pick 5 (seed) strains for your personal head stash, which would you choose? I prefer sativa dom. but a good indica is nice now and again also. Maybe I'll find one or two consensus strains this way.

These are a few of the strains that I'm considering myself after lurking around here for awhile:

Super Silver Haze (not sure by who)
Amnesia Haze (not sure by who)
PS Sweet Skunk
SS Kali Mist

I've never had an OG anything or a Kush anything either which seem to be pretty popular these days.

Those all look good to me, but I'm very new at this. If I could pick anything I'd definitely have Kali Mist and Super Silver Haze in my top five list. I've tried Kali Mist before and loved it but haven't gotten to try Super Silver Haze. I've heard amazing things about it for so long that I've been chomping at the bit to try it.

Something I would get if it were my list that you didn't mention is a Kush. Bubba Kush is incredible, and I'm growing an autoflowering Bubble Kush this year if my sister ever gets a seedling to me. I'm honestly not sure how Kushes compare to some of the strains you mentioned; cannabis affects me differently than most, but you might look into them if you've not already considered them.

I've found Humboldt seeds Pineapple Skunk to be an exceptional take on the old Skunk line.
High yield, great citrus smells and taste, very frosty with a nice energetic sativa high with no sort of body stone to it.
The two phenos I've had, one bushy, one cola dominate were both ripe at 60 days.

Connoisseur grade strains and phenos are all subjective.
I've had plenty of the OGs, Tahoe I've grown the most of, while it's great herb, as a medical patient I really don't care for getting mind fucked off of a few bong rips.
I've really enjoyed OG crosses like G13s Blue OG, The blueberry tones mixed with the fuel is great, I get it to yield better than straight OG phenotypes and it gets me where I like to be.

As far as my experiences with non OG, Kush varieties, I really like landrace Afghani/ Pakistani kushes, the few different varieties from different regions are available from many breeders.
There are so many interesting traits out of these plants, some incredible terpene profiles.
One of the phenos I got out of World of Seeds Afghan Kush smelled of fresh limes, something I've not smelled from any other plant I've grown.

Once you do decide on some new strains, get your self multi packs for sure so you can get an idea of the different phenos each strain throws out.
Some can be far better than others.

Looks like some nice options. Sannies Jack is highly regarded, and cheap so I don't think you'll go wrong there. Check out his Killing Fields too.

FS C-99 I have grown a few times. It's a very uniform strain... almost like clones of one another. Done in 7-8 weeks, and is nice smoke with a great pineapple smell/taste.

Sweet Skunk is a nice strain. I'd look at Peak Seeds BC for that one. I have a pack (not yet popped) but I have smoked it, and it's great!

I have germinated a few packs of Kali Mist. The first pack circa early 2000's yielded my favorite plant ever. I lost the mother and bought another pack around 2008. It sucked! Apparently they bred it to an Afghani to shorten the flowering time, but ruined the great sativa buzz in the process. I've heard that they somewhat undid that mistake, but I'd maybe shoot them an email and find out for sure. Simon is a cool cat whom I've chatted with a couple times, so I'm sure he'd be happy to field any questions you may have. Their AK-47 is great smoke too, but VERY stinky in flower if that's a consideration for you.

I had some OG Kush for a few years that gave the most serious case of the munchies. I would like to grow that again someday. Super Green Crack tunes me up properly...
I'm amazed at the incredible amount of different strains we now have access to. All I smoked for my first 15 years of smoking was Mexican Red Hair with tons of seeds!

SAD from Sweet Seeds is a fine indica dom. Might be the best I have had. It is a select pheno of Black Domina which is a bunch of strains but mostly indicas.

Pure sativa would be Panama Red from ACE or Cannabiogen. Nice up high no unpleasant racy, scary feelings.

I have Frankies from Chimira on tap for future grow, got a pack of it. Supposed to be a top sativa, we will see.

Sweet Skunk is the best of what you have listed that I've grown. It's really pretty awesome. I've grown the Jack (sannies) and C99 (FMS). If I were going to do SSH it would be from Mr Nice. I'd check his auction site out. C99 is great day time but not exactly a powerful high or anything. Just puts you in a good mood - at least for me. In edibles in high doses it gave me the giggles but I doubt it could ever do that for me in smoke form.

I had this recommended to me if I wanted to grow out Amnesia and it looks interesting and I'll probably pick it up and grow it sometime in the next 10 years or so lol.

I've smoked a fair bit of Kali Mist. It's good. But I prefer the Sweet Skunk.

that hypro amnesia is talked about highly, love to sample that smoke. mr nice ssh sounds good. im actually waiting on a jack hybrid. id def try the sweet skunk on the strength of how much oge likes it.
