Hi everybody. I am growing my very first plants ever. I am using coir as my medium. I germinated three seeds (indoor growing mixture) not sure what strains they are. I planted the seeds three days after germination and for the first three days after planting they showed great signs of growing. I have 4 little leaves on 2 and the third Is still a little behind. I have not yet used any nutes and I've watered by spray bottle for this time, keeping it moist daily. I left for the night and came back the next afternoon and one plant wasn't standing up at all and the root was very thin. The other was close in condition. I do have 2 cfl lights on each already and I am very concerned that my plants aren't going to make it.. Any suggestions or recommendations???

If the root is so thin, like a string, that the plant won't stand up and dark brown/black, that's Damping Off disease. It's a fungal infection -- horrible and fatal -- caused by keeping the plant too moist at the top of the grow medium. Your misting the leaves probably did that -- you only need to do that with clones, not from seed. When you grow from seed you want to make sure the top of the grow medium is as dry as possible until the plant develops some stem thickness. Keep a fan circulating air around the plant. Water from the bottom up (I use a rockwool cube) as much as you can.
Seedlings don't need that much light or water, ease off on the water and move your lights up a few inches. Seedlings don't even yet have a root system (so needs only tiny amount of water) and they have a few tiny leaves (no need to saturate them in light as their leaves can only absorb a small amount). I don't know what wattage cfl's your using but i use 1 x 125W for my vegging and that's plenty for a few small plants. Hope this helps

Looks like they don't have a firm enough hold in your medium. That looks like plain coconut husk, kinda like the stuff that some herb pots are made of. Try planting one in soil or a firmer medium and see if that helps.

put it into soil asap. and water it, leave the green side up

I am having the same problem with a babyweed right now! Perfectly fine for the last 4ish days, and this afternoon when I went to check on it it's sad and dying. It is in soil in an egg carton (I've always started seedlings in egg cartons for anything, so I figured it'd work out.)
I'm interested to see if it worked out - I used bagseed for my first grow so I'm not super concerned, I'll just start over with a few more of the bagseed. But if I can save it I'd like to.
