incredibly cheap LED grow lights!

Hoenstly though I dont believe LEDS will ever be able to compete with the light penetration of HIDS.....
but with ample side lighting like your idea or a scrog I think they could be used to achieve amazing results.

This is years of bullshit being stated again. HID lights don't penetrate any different than any other light, they will not only compete with them, they will eventually kick the shit out of them. The t-5's are doing that now and the led's will soon be doing it to both of them. CFL's didn't seem to be worth a shit a year ago. Now we have a book about producing 8 oz of bud with 8-42watt cfl's. The hid owners said you couldn't get the penetration. It won't be long, you will be able to buy 1000watt hid for a hundred bucks, no one will be buying them. VV

I have to agree.

i can see the arguement with t5s. LEDs however seem to put out very poor results. Ive seen so many LED grows and every one seemed stretched, scrawny, small buds, ect. never have i even seen 1 grow with LEDs used start to finish that gave good results. if anyone can give an example that proves otherwise please do. I mean i asked al gore and even he couldnt find shit on the net.

imo LED lighting just isnt where it needs to be at its current state to be good enough for anything but side lighting. and even then id prob just rather get t5s

Did you not read my post...I have searched for LED grows for daaaays and found just about all of them. And every single LED grow I saw used under 500 leds and they grew multiple plants under them....

I say you need 500 or more PER plant!

Plus they didnt even train the plants in most of the grows, or they had the plants too far from the lighting.

You don't have to train plants with t-5's or led's you have more even light over more area for less energy dollars. From the configurations they show I would deduce, they started out with blue planning to switch to red. The found out that the t-5's were showing better results 1/2 red, 1/2 blue. They mixed red and blue, four fixture, priced low enough you can buy 2 sets around $500.00.
Good strategy. You won't get good comparisons from one plant, a table of 12, 16, 20, you will, and folks that have that many plants will spend the $500.00. I may just have to do it myself. I do still have 2 lights to buy. VV

I frequent quite a few sites similiar to this one and have followed a lot of LED grows out of curiosity. all results ive seen, even with people using upwards of 1k LEDS, got very poor results. The biggest LED setup which was like 2500 LEDS or something with 1 plant under and it still looked like shit(think the journal is somewhere on planetskunk). I also think i remember him saying that the heat from them was more than that of floros/cfls.

i dunno i guess i just dont get LED lighting. I dont see why people would want to use them over floros. its like people NEED to find some whacky alternative way to grow. what benefit do you get by using LEDs over t5s? over cfls even?

The case is closed on T5 penetration vs HPS; the HPS can't come close to the penetration of the T5's.

How many lumens would a system like this put out? Or does it not matter how many lumens since LED puts out more usable light (not sure if this is true, just heard this?)

How many panels do you think would work well to grow a 30" X 20" Scrog?

is there any sites that sell to the uk?

Are T5's good for the utilities bill, and how much light would I need to grow 2 - 4 plants?

I actually got quoted on those exact LED setup of lights through Alibaba.com (i think it was that site)

here is actually a copy of what they quoted me for shipping, the item costs were like 19 dollars each for the lower quantity and like 17 each for the larger quantity(96pcs).

So if you had a couple grand & don't mind terribly bad "engrish", you'd get the panels for about 25 bux a peice including shipping and could sell your extras on ebay to some poor sucker like some other guy does.

If you want quality LED grow lights, engineered for growing. I suggest you pay the extra $$ and check out LED Grow Lights.com Home Page, that is direct from LGL Technologies who did the development of these grow LED's. In the end I bit the bullet and paid the higher price to get 6 of the xtra bright red from them to supplement my MH.

As for "cheap led's", I wouldn't call a markup of almost 200% cheap, and thats even if they only ordered 96 pcs, i'd bet they got 96pcs of each color and are making at least 50 bucks profit each panel.

Id bet 2 4 packs would easilly equal a 600w maybe more but your only paying for 100 watts or less of electricity every month so you would save TONS of money in the long run hell even after a few months...plus less fans, no reflectors, no venting.....I mean...it really makes perfect sense that all saves money and time and effort.

Most companies that sell LEDs will tell you LEDs are for supplemental lighting. If you can show one successful grow with just LEDs make me a believer.

don't listen to his input, he has never grown with LED's. In fact, if you check his post history, you can tell he just was looking into lights as of February this year. (the most accurate post in regards to LED's I found was right above mine that most grow companies will tell you to use the LED's as a supplement to other grow lights, this is what I am currently personally expirementing with)

the guy goes aroudn posting like a veteran when at best he is giving advice based on things he read, or "remembers reading" (as you can see he couldn't even back up what he said about the LED's)

I saw the guy post very rudely in F4t4lShots thread and looked at his profile and just laughed when i realized he is just some asshat who thinks cuz he read a lot about growing he can give veteran advice when in reality its pretty clear he just started this year.

that said i'm probably a bigger newb, i just dislike "know it all" arrogant tones that really shouldn't be sayign shit like they know and experienced it, all he did was read.

Leds are tested and they do work to grow...its not a scam buddy.

i was looking for a while i wanted to find a good site that sells to the uk and or maby just plans to make a simple one would be fine
