Your saying 99.9 percent of this weed forum prefers cheap beer and cheap weed?
I think that for home growers inside it's more about plant size and/or yield given the size of most of the hobbyist level grows around here. Not a whole lot of guys selling more than here and there to friends it seems on this forum. With the focus on less turn-and-burn growing and higher quality output.

Some people claim to get a very similar buzz regardless of strain. I'm glad I experience the full range of effects. Generally sativa is up and indica is down. I prefer strains that have 70% or more sativa effect. Most of the time the strain will be sativa dominant. There are some indica strains that are sativa like. But I have never had a true sativa that smoked like an indica.

If you can keep your plants healthy till harvest, (bright green thick stems and green healthy fan leaves) and a level canopy full of main shoots.
you're going to harvest high-quality buds, this is the most important thing, strain comes second, growing skills will always come first over everything else.

Not to speak for him/her, but I think ScaryGary is referencing the overall canna market and while I may not agree, that does seem to be the consensus. People want cheap weed and suppliers want to produce it with the largest ROI as possible.

Most home growers tend to have higher standards, but for the majority of novice consumers, its all about bag appeal and high THC.

Its literally how we got to this bottle-neck affect with modern genetics.

I’m more less confused on how someone can speak for over 10s of thousands of people.

And in my books. It’s always going to be quality over quantity.
Once you lose sense of that. It’s almost like you become an addict.
Every liquor store iv been to. Always has a booze head beggin for a buck or a beer. Usually hurricanes or natty daddy’s. Like the worst fluid next to bleach to put in your body.

As a grower, what is a cheap weed?
From my experience, the only way to grow massive crops is to do a really good job, which always results in a higher quality weed.
Ok, the strain does come into play, but if you buy a good strain like super lemon haze, you get both(yield and high-quality weed or neither) There is no middle ground.

I have been consuming cannabis multiple times a day since 1975-76.

That is every day (unless I was out of the country or sick)

Until the last few years I never really knew what I was smoking. Sometimes the supplier would tell me some whacky name for it but who the hell knew what it was.

I smoked in the car every morning on the way to work for 40 years.

Every Morning

Indica, Sativa, Hybrid ??? I will never know or care.

I never had to lay down at work because I had couch lock.

The good stuff we called the Stinky Sticky Icky or a variation of.

If it stuck to my fingers like glue and clogged up my scissors or grinder with rosin, it was the shit.

If you had the bag in your pocket and someone complained because the room stunk like skunk, it was the shit.

I could care less what anyone called it.

The last few years I have been buying from dispensaries that have all kinds of fancy names and descriptions of the strain and its lineage.

I don’t know what’s going on but the dispensary shit keeps getting worse.

Looks good, kind of smells good but it ain’t no Stinky Sticky Icky

I suppose if you paid top dollar you can get the good stuff.

I am now growing my own and I don’t care what they call it. :)

Genetics play prolly the largest role in class A flower.
So can you tell the strain from looking at the bud or smoking it, I can't?
Give 10 growers some cutting from the same plant, you think they get similar results?
There different genetics in every bag of seeds you buy.
So many different variables but a good grower can select a good pack of seeds, keep the best plant out of the pack, get the best results from the plant in turn getting the best yield and highest quality weed.

Good sativas give me insane cotton mouth lol. Like my brain is pulling all the fluids in my body so it can tame that soaring high or something lol
that's never happened to me, but this stuff affects everyone in different ways. the main effect i get is a energetic high, no munchies, sometimes the giggles. Really really red eyes, and slight pinch on my spinal nerves, that' one thing i have noticed about a good sativa and slight tingle down my spinal column. Some even make you have to shit literately right after toking, those are great herbs.

Then again , this brings up how one consumes their weed …… smoking v. edibles.

Smoking is the fastest - from lungs to brain.
But … Edibles can hang for hours ( depending on dosage ) as it is processed thru liver. I find more intense from ingesting my weed thru edibles. Sure i can roll a good fattie for fast fading thru my day.

But with those brownies i made last year - i would get nauseous and room would spin - thats how i figured i over indulged. I tried 5 mg edibles to start but have moved upward due to tolerance tho.

Now i consume both ways - even with dry vape ABV in peanut butter cookies then you see aliens lol.

I promise you they’ll get similar results from the same cut.

bad genetics. Good grower. Still equals bad weed. No matter what. (Depending on what you classify as bad weed). Me personally. Genetics determine if it’s good or not.
Iv seen strains grow so terrible on plant. But the harvest was still what most considered above par.

The thing i hate about edibles is the first time testing them. Most times my lady looks at me and asks "are you ok?" to which i reply no, i am not. Dosing is easy after that

Of course they do.

There are hundreds of threads with thousands and thousands of grow posts across multiple forms of media that continually show this.
And a perfect example would be GG4.

Now I'm not saying every grower has the skill to bring a plant to full potential (chems and diesels are certainly not for a beginner) but there should very little nuances between those cultivars. The biggest variance would due to light spectrum.

What? From your experience growing massive crops of high quality weed?

Crazy that this thread was at the top when I logged in jut now. I just had this discussion with a doctor today during my medical card renewal visit. He says the indica vs sativa high is bullshit as well, and that if you feel one way or another its a placebo effect.
Part of a doctor's 'schtict' is have you believe in their knowledge. Just because they give definitive answers doesn't mean they know. As long as it is schedule one the proper testing won't happen and his answers are probably mostly hearsay based on limited input.

This is so true. I've shared cuts like Wedding Cake, MB15, and GG4 with a lot of outdoor growers in my area and even the beginner gardeners produced some quality smoke. A little leafy and many cut too early, but it was still far better than most outdoor I came across...and definitely better than the dispos.

Overdoing it with edibles is no joke! I have a pretty hight tolerance but edibles lay me TF out!!
