inline fan, ducting, venting question ??

yo RIU,

got a 8sq/ft closet CFL grow. going to use a small inline fan (homedepot 4" ,110v,30watts) and flex ducting into ceiling.

Q:saw this on another post:

inline fan into this and then into a powerstrip. i can adjust the speed also. is that set-up ok ?

Q: i know i should use it to pull the air through. where should i mount it...on top of the growbox (which is a rubbermaid tub 49gal) and the ducting from that up to the ceiling ?

Q: on the ceiling with the ducting down into the growbox ?

Q: where should i aim the ducting or fan in the celing ? straight up , off to one side ?

Q: is 4" inline fan to much for my space or too little ? will the smell seep into the rest of the house ? i've made a stack of DIY filters from carbon and handiwipes from walmart.

thanks in adavnce...man everytime i think i got my set-up right i find something esle on RIU to make it better...LOL...it never ends...LOL !!!!

Where you mount the fan doesnt really matter. Mount it wherever it is convenient and allows you to minimize the bends in the ducting.

To figure out whether the fan is enough you need to figure out how many cubic feet your grow area is. Then how many cubic feet of air the fan moves per minute. If youre just growing in a rubbermaid container then I would imagine the 4 inch fan will be fine unless it is a crappy fan. Need to figure out the prior information to be sure though. As far as the smell, with something that small it probably wont be an issue and if you have some filters on there then you will be fine. Also remember the filters will decrease the amount of air the fan moves somewhat so dont forget to factor those in. You should have a full air exchange every 5 to 10 minutes to be good.

thanx mj for the tips...

went over to my parents house and found hooks,chain,powerstrips, old cpu fan (very heavy for its size wow..magnet???), ducting, chickenwire, flat white paint,something to use as a SCROG, those electrial thinggies LOL - like rubber toothpaste caps in dif colors to put wires together...LOL...i sincerely apologize to all the electricians out there...my bad..sorry i went to public suckool blame L.A.U.S.D. LOL!!

anyways thanx pops...i love you and i'll redo the lawn when you go on vacation.

pops if you are reading this then the world will come to an end in 10 9 8 7 6 5.........
