his stuff works GOOD-

http://www.dynamat.com/

it turns sound into heat.
i lined my entire inside of my vehicle with this stuff when i used to compete in db drag and usaci competitions. its is an excellent sound deadening material. but im not sure if it turns sound into heat, as my car would have been set on fire if that were the case. 157db with 1 amp, 1 sub and 2 batteries.

That radio idea is fucking brilliantly simple, and if your stations suck just make a cd-r that will last as long as your cycle of fan is on or something..

But that must be the cheapest idea I have heard, quite literally!

In the future, buy fans 2x the size you need then dial them back with a speed adjustor.
You can move 300cfm silently with a 700 cfm dialed back.
A 300 cfm fan maxed out is super loud.

not all fans are able to be used with a speed controller. ive read using a speed controller on the wrong fan can burn out the motor. i fun ven tech fans, but havent found any answers if one can run a s/c with out any issues.

listen so many people gave you there reply, and here is another , So what are you trying to do ? you want to ISSOLATE THE NOISE, many people here have done so and are telling you to do so, You know there is an actual part that is specificly made to reduce noise and vibration for fans , They are called VIBRATION /NOISE ISOLLATORS, do a serach on them ,I will even bet you the MFG of your fan will most likly have them , they are weight specific to the fan ,So if you buy them make sure you know the weight of your fan. Now if you dont have enough duct work on your fan or ducted incorrectly this Noise can also be your probem, HVAC companys Also MFG a product for that .They are called SOUND TRAPS, do the serch get one that will handle your FANS CFM and all will be good,And No these products wont be carried or proberly known from the guy in hydro/nusery store ,WHY because they No JACK SHIT about moving air ,Just as I know JACK SHIT about growing ,but hey Im tryen to learn , if I can just consentrat on this site with out looking in GROW ROOM Design ,But these questions keep sucking in this retired HVAC GUY.
