Input/advice on selling to dispensaries, medical or otherwise

With the legalization happening in CO and WA, I was wondering if forum members had any input on selling products to the dispensaries. With recreational use being added to the equation, I feel the marijuana markets will be undergoing a huge change and possibly expansion and it would be exciting to be part of that.

Thanks guys.

There is a show called weed wars or something gay like that. It follows these people who own a dispensary, and shows you all the shit they look at.

It's weird, they literally use a microscope to check for spider mites.

I think dispensaries want everything hand trimmed - like, you can't even use a rotary trimmer. Probably varies a lot by the dispensary though, as well as the local supply. If I was legally selling weed for $45 an eight, you can bet your ass I wouldn't run out, if I had to wash the damn mites off myself.

I believe dispensaries have to verify there is no dangerous mold or chemicals in the weed, especially since "medical" patients are generally suffering from compromised immune systems, common mold that may not harm a normal person, could kill a patient thats been diagnosed with any chronic diseases that affect the immune system.

Well, I'm not sure on the legality of the quality control that they have to abide by given its state of infancy, but I know its an issue that they would eventually have to keep in check if it was ever legalized in a large scale for recreational use, it would only be a matter of time before someone grew their weed with mold, sold it to a careless dispensary who didn't test it properly and end up with a lawsuit from selling cannabis deemed not safe or potentially harmful to the patients they service.

Anyone have any resources that expand on the process of selling to dispensaries...specifically products. I'm more interesting in the recreational use than medicinal but anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wait until the states come up with legal grow regs for licensed growers now that its voted in. Paperwork on cash flow, nutes usable, safety, security, documention on where it goes, bonds, etc.... I can see it possiblity being an expensive mess.

Here in the Bay Area it's an extremely competitive market.
From my experience, your goods have to be top notch if you expect to sell to them, it's all about smell and bag appeal here.
You walk a tightrope trying to find strains that are super dank while still giving the grower a decent yield.
Many of the dispensaries here will try to get you to front your product to them and they'll pay you when it sells!
And the previous poster was correct, they all bust out their microscopes, mostly to check the amount and maturity of trichromes and to spot critters. They usually look for molds with a black light.

My advise, if you want a steady gig with the dispensaries, grow for quality, it will always trump quantity!

Awesome--thanks Mr. Ganja. You have any insight into the weed products market? I want to sell pre rolled joints/blunts/edibles/etc. My goal isn't really to sell bud by itself--but to sell weed products. I believe there's going to be a huge opening in that market with the dawn of legalization.
