A static IP means that your are assigned a specific IP address. Normally in todays high speed with most ISP's run on what is known as a Dynamic IP. That technically means that u can have a different IP every time u go on the net. From experience dynamic IP renew typically every 6 months. That means you will have the same IP for the time allowed by your ISP before it get's changed. Now, also most high speed have gone to what is known as a MAC Address. A Mac Address is the serial number listed on your network card. That serial number will assign you a IP address. If you wanted to change you IP you can either A) Get a new nic card and us it. B) switch your connection to USB C) Use a router there for you will get a 192.xxx.xxx.xxx IP. Hope this explains things for you a bit better..

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2275

firefox addon adds a button on bottom right to turn on and off

it slows you down alot though and if you google with it on it will sometimes come in different languages i huess cuz its bouncing your ip all over the world
Its good info, and the tor network is cool, but if your ports are open its all a total waste of time whatever proxy service you use.
So close those ports if you want any kind of real security:blsmoke:

i dont know what that means lol
It basically means that whoevers proxy you choose to use,you still need to close your open ports and password protect your network and your actual pc.
Use a different password for your network and your pc with numbers and letters.
Pass phrases are the best.
I.E. "my 123 jumbo elephant eats his own 77 poop once a week with no 88 shirt"

Easy to remember for you,but to a hacker he will be long gone as soon as his progs tell him that it would take an eternity to crack your passwords:blsmoke:

Look up Anonymouse Proxy Servers and that will aloow you to spoof your IP threw another network. Problems is some sites wont work.. But the best thing is they are free. Need to try a few of them out and find the best for your needs. Some slow down your surfing and some are really fast.. I use to use it at work to bypass their firewall to access facebook from my desk.
