So your telling me that people who produce things for TV and Movies is a relatively small group, a lot of resources that most people don't have to be able to spend that kind of money, so I can buy that. And sinclair broadcasting and Fox have shown how bad actors can use these powerful megaphones to spread lies and propaganda, so I get the dangers of this too.
It's interesting how all media, whether intentionally or unintentionally, influences its viewer's perception of reality. Depending on what type of person is watching, each reacts in a different way according to story, like trump and the cult of personality..

But what does 'MSM' mean to you?
Basic msm meaning, i think is the major american news outlets, their platforms and their influence/reach on daily narratives.

how do you distinguish between factual reporting and opinion,
Facts are statements, opinions have emotions or biases attached to statements. Facts can be truth or fiction. Opinions can agreeable or not. Both have potential to be an influence.

are you also counting things like Trump political trolls going on TV and flat out lying to the American public a lie on 'MSM' and if so do you put that at the fault of the television company that is being used by these political hacks?
Dude, I thought people would wake the f*k up when trump was elected president. I'd blame capitalism. Is it working yet?? At the shared expense of our environment and humanity, a few people make some bucks and pass it on to their legacy..

People will be studying this for centuries.

Trump IMO was just the pinnacle of it because he had the loudest megaphone in human history and literally could manufacture real news that he wanted to be highlighted. We saw that with his speech that he timed to force the protesters out of the park.

Do you include companies like "The Hill" in this?

Also I am not sure what you are saying is wrong with 'MSM' using your definition. Is it that you agree with what the other account said?
Because I disagree strongly with agreeing with the dictator's favorite narrative of complaining about news companies like AP news reporting all the shit that they are doing, even reporting what those same dictators are saying when they are lying to their citizens (which I consider 'fake news' but factual reporting (because the dictator is manufacturing fake news literally) because they are not taking a stance on the reporting.

And I also call bullshit on these legit news companies paying trolls to spread lies and hateful propaganda in their comment sections and any other website that they spam their clickbait on across the internet.

Facts are statements, opinions have emotions or biases attached to statements. Facts can be truth or fiction. Opinions can agreeable or not. Both have potential to be an influence.
Everything can be a 'influence', what does this have to do with actual stories in legitimate news companies like the AP? Are you lumping in AP news with an opinion piece on Fox News when you say "MSM"?

Dude, I thought people would wake the f*k up when trump was elected president. I'd blame capitalism. Is it working yet?? At the shared expense of our environment and humanity, a few people make some bucks and pass it on to their legacy..
By blaming capitalism do you mean that capitalism helped us to have the ability to have computers/internet in enough homes to radicalize this amount of people at once from the comfort of these dictator's back yards? Then sure I am with you. But I would still take the ability to live in a capitalist nation than anywhere else in the world.

Same question For you… what has PressTV done that it deserves to be silenced?
I don't read bullshit propaganda websites, so how would I know. Is there something that you think I should read from them, if so feel free to post it here.

But I am not going to chase my tail, that troll is bullshit, and shitty.

It's like a visceral response test. They hook up a little sensor to your pee pee and show you images and if you get a tingle....they've found what you like. Stop liking trash and they won't feed you trash. The same amount of feelings we have for the media is a 1:1 of how we feel about ourselves, we're just too stupid to know it.
dude..it's totally Magic 8-Ball.

reasons unclear..the future looks cloudy..reply hazy try again..

If you have to cite places like that in order to make your point then perhaps the point you are trying to make is not valid.
Lazy work on my end. Thanks for the check @Fogdog. Here it is from AP.
CNN fires analyst Marc Lamont Hill after UN speech on Israel
November 29, 2018

NEW YORK (AP) — CNN on Thursday parted ways with contributor Marc Lamont Hill after a speech the college professor made on Israel and Palestine at the United Nations.
A CNN spokesperson confirmed Hill is no longer under contract. The network did not give a reason, but the move comes amid objections to Hill’s speech by the Anti-Defamation League and other groups.

Hill, a professor of media studies at Temple University who had been a recurring political commentator on CNN, called for countries to boycott and divest from Israel in the Wednesday speech given for the UN’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

“We have an opportunity to not just offer solidarity in words but to commit to political action, grass-roots action, local action and international action that will give us what justice requires and that is a free Palestine from the river to the sea,” Hill said in the speech.

The ADL and others said the “river to the sea” phrase is code for the destruction of Israel often used by Hamas and groups bent on its destruction.

“Those calling for ‘from the river to the sea’ are calling for an end to the State of Israel,” the ADL’s Senior Vice President for International Affairs, Sharon Nazarian, said in a statement, adding that the annual event at the UN “promotes divisiveness and hate.”

Hill sent a series of tweets responding to his firing and defending his speech.

“My reference to ‘river to the sea’ was not a call to destroy anything or anyone,” Hill said on Twitter. “It was a call for justice, both in Israel and in the West Bank/Gaza. The speech very clearly and specifically said those things.”
“I support Palestinian freedom. I support Palestinian self-determination,” Hill tweeted, adding, “I do not support anti-Semitism, killing Jewish people, or any of the other things attributed to my speech. I have spent my life fighting these things.”
It's a transference of responsibility. The alcohol took over, Trump told us to, it was in the bible, the music/game made me do it, the gun had its own inherent evil energy, the government takes my money without permission so I'm not actually funding any atrocities myself, aaaaaand of course because the MSM told me there were pedo's in the pizza parlor. It's the same technique for who knows how many hundreds of years, to manufacture a boogeyman to allow us to escape the pain of recognizing our responsibility and complacency.
Excellent point here! Transference of Responsibility.. one only has to go so far to reach his own hands.

The reach he still has to this day baffles me.

Agreed. Hitler did the same thing claiming the media was lying about him and coined his own 'fake news' term, Lügenpress.

And I also call bullshit on these legit news companies paying trolls to spread lies and hateful propaganda in their comment sections and any other website that they spam their clickbait on across the internet.
?? Maybe you can give an example..
People are def becoming more radicalized, online and IRL. It's not something I agree with. As you mentioned before in another thread, the people who choose to react in radical ways, do not help but usually make situations worse.

Everything can be a 'influence', what does this have to do with actual stories in legitimate news companies like the AP? Are you lumping in AP news with an opinion piece on Fox News when you say "MSM"?
Not lumping them together. Ap is non-profit. Fox, CNN, MSNBC ect are all public companies with profit in mind. Slanted/bias media viewed repeatedly, imo, has more of an influence than an AP media story.

1. Biased Emotions 2. Visual/auditory experience 3. On Repeat = 1+2+3=? Feeling radicalized about whatever topic that was being pushed. Over simplified, for sure, but def have witnessed fox news turn its viewers into dicks.

Edit: Hitler did not coin the term, Lügenpress.

I don't watch CNN, because MSNBC covers everything that they and Fox news does that is factually accurate, but I am betting they were not spreading conspiracy theories like 'Pizzagate' and the big lies they are doing now. They are clearly different.

WASHINGTON (AP) — For conspiracy theorists, the bizarre rumors of “pizzagate” didn’t end when a man brought a gun to a Washington restaurant this week in a misguided attempt to rescue nonexistent child sex slaves. Instead, the shooting sparked discussion that the conspiracy runs deeper.

On blogs, YouTube channels and internet radio shows devoted to conspiracy theories, the arrest of Edgar Maddison Welch on Sunday was just the latest “false flag,” a term for a cover-up or distraction orchestrated by the government or other powerful figures. The persistent belief in the false-flag theory shows just how stubborn fabricated conspiracies can be, according to experts.

According to police, Welch drove to a restaurant called Comet Ping Pong to investigate the “pizzagate” rumors that Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, and other Washington insiders were harboring child sex slaves there. Police said Welch fired several shots inside the pizzeria on Sunday with a military-style rifle but surrendered peacefully after he found no evidence of a secret pedophilia ring.

There’s no evidence to back up the rumors about the restaurant, a beloved neighborhood institution in the wealthy enclave of Chevy Chase. In the past year, Comet employees have reported a damaged car, a stolen bag and online harassment; otherwise, it’s never been the subject of a police investigation.

But to true believers, the absence of proof is just another sign of a conspiracy and a well-orchestrated cover-up.

James Fetzer, a longtime conspiracy theorist who also believes the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax, told The Associated Press that Welch’s visit to the pizzeria was staged to distract the public from the truth of the “pizzagate” allegations.

“There’s no doubt about it in my mind,” said Fetzer, a former philosophy professor and the founder of a group called Scholars for 9/11 Truth. “You see, this is part of the whole idea to smear the alternative media, which are putting out so much more truth than the mainstream.”

Welch — a fitfully employed, 28-year-old father of two from North Carolina — is being held without bail. He told The New York Times in a jailhouse interview that he “just wanted to do some good and went about it the wrong way.”

Once a conspiracy theory gains traction, confronting true believers with facts is pointless, said Michael Barkun, a professor emeritus at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School and the author of “A Culture of Conspiracy: Apocalyptic Visions in Contemporary America.”

“When you get to conspiracy theories like this, they’re closed systems of ideas,” Barkun said. “They’re constructed in such a way that there isn’t any evidence you can present to someone who believes them that will lead a believer to change his or her mind.”

“Pizzagate” believers point out references to pizza in Podesta’s hacked emails, which were published by WikiLeaks, and Comet owner James Alefantis’ ties to Democratic donors. They scour Alefantis’ social-media posts and even his restaurant’s menu for “code words” and “symbols” that supposedly reference child sexual abuse. They jump to incredible conclusions based on Podesta’s and Alefantis’ tastes in art.

Fetzer and other conspiracy theorists seized on the fact that Welch had dabbled in movie acting as a giveaway that his visit to the restaurant was staged. Welch wrote a short film and appeared as a victim in a slasher movie alongside a friend, Kathy Sue Holtorf, who told the AP that Welch “never wanted to become an actor.”

Blogger Joachim Hagopian, a false-flag proponent, told the AP that conspirators look for “a patsy or stooge” to pose as a lone gunman with an assault rifle. Welch, he said, “fits the pattern” with his acting background.

“He’s got an IMDB (Internet Movie Database) profile,” Hagopian said.

Conspiracy theorists have made similar claims about parents of the 20 children who were killed at Sandy Hook in Newtown Connecticut, in 2012, calling them “crisis actors” pretending to grieve for nonexistent children. Sandy Hook was a false flag meant to promote gun control, the conspiracy theorists said. Just this week, a Florida woman was charged with threatening the parent of a child who died in the shooting because she thought the attack was a hoax, according to federal authorities.

The ultimate false flag in modern times, according to conspiracy theorists, was Sept. 11, 2001. Some believe the World Trade Center towers were destroyed by the government, using bombs or other means, as part of a plot to justify the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Hagopian said he believes attacks since then — including the mass shootings last year in San Bernardino, California, and this year at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida — also were false flags.

Hillary Clinton has been linked by conspiracy theorists to child sex abuse since the mid-1990s, Barkun said. Andrew Breitbart, the late founder of right-wing site Breitbart News — later led by President-elect Donald Trump’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon — tweeted in 2011 that Podesta was a “world class underage sex slave op cover-upper.”

Radio host and Trump supporter Alex Jones, a well-known conspiracy theorist, said in a YouTube video Sunday that he believes the claims about powerful Democrats abusing children, but he wasn’t convinced Comet Ping Pong had anything to do with it.

“The big bug zapper to distract all the investigators is the D.C. pizza place,” Jones said.

The video was deluged by comments criticizing Jones for backing away from the “pizzagate” story.

Conspiracy theories can help believers process genuinely horrific news, such as child sex abuse scandals involving the Catholic Church or Penn State University, said James Broderick, an English professor at New Jersey City University and the co-author of “Web of Conspiracy: A Guide to Conspiracy Theory Sites on the Internet.”

“Having a targeted source of villainy creates, in some people’s minds, a feeling of control,” Broderick said. “Evil isn’t random. It’s a result of these nameable forces that we can target.”
Not lumping them together. Ap is non-profit. Fox, CNN, MSNBC ect are all public companies with profit in mind.
So then what about MSNBC and a company like 'The Hill' or 'OANN', do you count them as one of those news companies you listed?. As for the non-profit point, I like that. I just knew that they were the most factually accurate and non-biased news source in the world that is free to access.

Also, I disagreed to this statement with the pizza gate example I think answered this part too. Profit is one thing, making profit while spreading hateful lies is a completely different thing that reporting current events and having some talking heads explain what that means in their experience is not by a mile.

That is the power of this attack on all of our societies that is being done by these dictators that need their cults to maintain power.

It is not the same as news companies that are recording history in real time and talking about it on air.

People I know would also lump in Breitbart in with the ones you listed, and I would strongly disagree.

I have twice encountered people who have seriously expressed that same opinion.

Tell me how I might have recognized that post as sarcastic, when there are people who really mean it.
I'm teasing, to an extent. It can be very difficult to discern in print. It takes some time to get to know the individual and their previous posts. I've gotten caught by it, too, without the poster saying "just kidding". Hell, I could be wrong and he was actually serious. Peace, brother.
