Irrigation water ph and alkalinity for promix hp soilless substrate

My well water is 8.2 ph 125 ppm and 60 ppm alkalinity. I have been having issues, I ph down the water to around 6 for feeding.do you think I would be better off not using ph down?

What does your PH reading look like after adding your feed nutrients?

If it's within range, then I wouldn't bother adjusting it.

Good Luck!

Why are you measuring alkalinity ppm? This isn't a fish tank so just go by the pH.
Every representative of promix I’ve spoken to has said that ph ing irrigation water does not effect the ph of the promix itself. So very confused of what ph range I should be irrigating at, considering its a soilless medium

Mix garden lime in the Pro Mix before using. And it doesn’t hurt to adjust the pH to the range we desire.

Right, but why are you testing the Alkalinity PPM? 6.3 to 6.5 works great for ProMix HP.

I’ve read a lot of horticulture articles stating high alkalinity irrigation has the tendency to raise medium ph. I was wondering if my water alkalinity was suitable
The pH will tell you if it’s alkaline or not. Testing the Alkalinity PPM (or dKh) is usually a test performed for things like salt water aquariums.

What are you feeding, how often, how much, and at what dosage?
In mid bloom growing in 3 gallon pots I use flora 3 part micro grow bloom, I am feeding 4 ml micro 1 ml grow and 6 ml bloom per gallon around 500 ppm phd to 6.0. I am feeding every 3 days in a feed feed plain water schedule

I’m not sure what their recommended dosage is but, when I grew in ProMix HP (all last year) I fed at half the recommended dosage and only once a week. I tried feeding one set of plants full dosage during flower (still once a week) and it only took a few weeks of that to start having issues caused by nitrogen toxicity and nutrient lockout.

I would suspect lockout caused by over feeding based on how often you are feeding.
Thank you, that is what’s most likely going on, I got quite a bit of run off each time so I thought I’d be ok. A lot of people on here say they feed every iragation, so was confused on what I should do. I’ll start implementing only once a week feedings. Thanks

People who grow in coco feed with every irrigation. ProMix HP is peat based and should be treated more like a soil grow than a coco grow.
