is 85 degree's in a room okay?

i have a 4.6x4.6x6.5 grow room and i just turned on my 400 watt hps today the room seemd to stabilize at 85 degree's (hydrometer was level with the plants)

i know 75 is ideal but at 85 will this effect the overall growth of my babys?

It is okay but you should def do something about it man
Look into an inline fan for exhaust

Dam, i gotta ghetto 90cfm bathroom exhaust that i mounted right ontop of my 400w's hood.

It doesnt pull from a duct itself, just from the bottom of the unit. then blows out a duct
So this is helping a little but i need to invest in a good fan, problem is im broke as fuck and can barely pay my bills this month..

but how bad is it for the temp to be 85? will this slow down plant growth much??

the growth won't be as rapid as if it were between 76-78°F that is right where you want it

It depends on the strain. My citral is doing amazing and seems to do best at around 85 degrees. What strain are you growing. Some are very temperamental, and others don't matter. The temperature you are talking about should be completely fine, but you may need to water it more. Before I had better ventilation Citral took in about a gallon of water a day. The growth is still amazing and it seems to do better at higher temperatures. Think about it this way. How high are the temperatures in the average rain forest where most plants thrive?

During veg it's ok for the temps to be around 85

but during flower I try to shoot for 75-79

im too broke to afford even a ph meter or ppm meter, i havnt started nute yet, they are almost 2 weeks old, i got foxfarm big bloom and grow big

i do have a gauge for a c02 tank and tubing for it, but i wont be using that for quite awhile, this is my first grow

Make a DIY cool tube (google it) and get a cheap 25 dollar in line fan from depot along with some ducting that should eliminate your heat issue

He would have to get another socket because most are too big, they would block too much air in the cool tube

85 isnt optimal but should be ok for short durations

85°F is the hottest it can get where you plant will still grow okay
76-78°F is much better for bud growth, 85°F will get you buds but not as nice or as big as buds in 76-78°F

You can get a PH test kit from HTG for like 10 bucks I think. It works fine. If you don't have the money for that you can go to a pet store, and get a PH kit for fish tanks. These usually go from a range of about 6.0 to 7.5 which isn't that great, but at least it gives you a general idea. Yea, I wouldn't worry about the CO2 yet.

I got a pH test kit from an aquarium when I first started, it measures from 6.0 to 7.6 but not all of the points in between (6.0, 6.4, 6.6, 6.8, 7.0, 7.2, 7.6)
