Is Gay Marriage Really That Big Deal?

So now gays would be taking their children to "gay clubs"? How many straight parents do you know who take their children to "straight" nightclubs? That's right, none, because kids AREN'T ALLOWED INSIDE.

I have many gay friends, and they are NORMAL PEOPLE.


Really, it depends on what your "average soccer mom" is doing. Maybe she's doing meth and turning tricks, how the hell do you know?

That's a good post and I concur. Don't use sweeping generalizations. There are plenty of hetero sex addicts out there.... with kids.

Are you fucking kidding me, what ever happened to nuturing a child and allowing him/her to explore and imagine and become THEIR own human being with their own conscience to decide what he/she is wrong/right.

And who exactly decides "what it means to be a man", that is completely subjective to each and every man.

Their are thousands of single moms raising boys on their own, I don't see you attacking them for not having a father figure to help raise their child.

Then you aren't looking hard enough, or in the right places. He has most definitely attacked single mothers, on numerous occasions.

Apparently in his world, a(straight) two parent family (no matter how dysfunctional, abusive, etc) is always better than a single parent, or two gay parents.

YES i know LOTS of PEOPLE, and yes some of them happen to have a sexual orientation that differs from the majority. And I am a LESBIAN. I DO NOT however have ANY other mental,physical,or emotional problems so please tell me why you think my partner and I should not be allowed to have children. (And fyi, we aren't planning on addopting we will be having a close friend as a donor) We are both college graduates and economically stable, things that MANY people who are parents do not have. So with the exception of the fact that im attrackted to women and not men, what exactly is wrong with me becoming a mother........

I know the Bible has some significant historical value, but it always only been a tool to rule the masses. It contains the basic teachings of creating and maintaining what it teaches to be "the norm".
I've read the bible, new and old testament, this is just my analytical opinion, but I don't believe in miracles. I think that it's just a very human way of describing the unknown, but they're only called miracles when they're good things. I'm sure that odds are pretty even on the bad and the good stuff that's unexplained. We never know why things happened until they've passed and we've lived to the affect of the changes.
I'd be pretty damned upset if I met my wife and she was a man and I wasn't able to enjoy the shared benefits of marriage. It's not about the bible, but if you need it as evidence, the new testament has an emphasis on caring for your fellow man. That's the only reason we need to allow same sex marriage, to allow people to define families based on what works for them. I know the closest people in my families lives are not related by blood. The argument is mainly for insurability purposes. As it stands now same sex couples aren't allowed to designate a same sex spouse as a beneficiary. This saves insurance companies I'm sure millions in paid out expenses nationwide. Social stability is definitely a concern of insurors, those companies who collect a portion of each of our labors. Tithing collectors. Funding religious sheep in mad march against that which they feel threatened by.
We need to let our own minds govern our mouths and speak to that which we know is best for us all, in the cosmic scheme of things, we're an endangered SPECIES, race and sexual preference and all those other castings shouldn't be allowed to cloud our judgement here.

Nothing. If you have a man willing to help you with that it is your prerogative. Are there any laws preventing you from doing so? More to the point are there any laws you need EVERYONE ELSE to change for you so that may do as you wish?

Let me explain this again because my position keeps being distorted. I have no issues with Gays doing whatever they wish. I do have an issue with them trying to pass legislation that forces other people to go along with it through a redefinition of marriage.

It also should be understood that my position has to do with complex legal issues and not with the way Gays choose to live.

If we redefine marriage, we redefine the way society views the family. I happen to believe that complex societies exist in a delicate balance and that we should avoid making sweeping changes to our most fundamental institutions.

Alright, but I've seen you say that if we allow "gay marriage" then public schools will be forced to teach children about gay sex. I would really like you to explain that. What would make you think that?

Do you think gay people would feel offended that we're not teaching children about gay sex, they wouldn't feel equal? So then they'd go to the ACLU and demand that they teach kids about gay sex in the sex ed class alongside normal sexual education? Is that the line of reasoning?

If that's the way you came to that conclusion, it's extremely flawed logic. Homosexual people have zero interest in teaching kids anything in the sexual education class. You would have a much more difficult time trying to pass that than getting equal rights.

Also, I've seen you make the claim that churches would have to start marrying homosexual couples, even against their own beliefs, which is not true at all. There was actually a case in Britain where this exact same thing happened, and the woman refused to marry a gay couple. Her rights were upheld and I'm sure they went somewhere else to get married. Again, extremely flawed logic. Atheists, homosexual people are not interested in getting married in a church... We're not going to sue if you don't want to perform the wedding. That would be like a Christain suing a Rabbi for refusing to do a traditional Christian wedding ceremony because it might be against his religion, but do you see any insane Christians suing Rabbi's left and right? Of course not...

You talk about it like it's this fine line, this glass house, this pillar that's ready to tip, and all it's going to take is allowing gay marriage to be treated as equal among our "free society"... Come on man, they were saying the same thing when black people were allowed to marry white people...

I think gays should have their own form of "marriage" with distinct differences, rights, and privileges than a hetero-marriage. And it CANNOT be called a marriage. "a civil union" or somthing. Homoerotic life partners... just not marriage. Other than that, I have no probs with fairies, lol
