I"M in the middle of setting up my flower room, and was just wondering what kind of lighting i should go with, to get good quality and stay under the radar.

Have a look here . . . High Tech Garden Supply

Maybe avoid the "lowest" quality? Always get the extra bulb offered at a good discount w/your initial purchase. I didn't (initially) and the ONE it shipped with blew in 13 days.
They replaced it, of course, but still, ya don't wanna get going and have to improvise while you wait.

At this point, 600W hps are always costlier than the more common 400's or 1000's.

what do you mean by radar? FLIR? There are some mylar-like materials you can line the room with to conceal the heat from surveillance tactics. Do not exhaust warm air to outside

If you're trying to be REAL discrete, don't buy online or have anything shipped to your house. Hydro stores have an infered blocking material, that's also reflective. Then you can use what you want.

also use a charcol filter. don't despense the air out the side of your house, make it go out the top. I ran ducting up through my attic and out the top, just like a bathroom fan. People com over and never know I have a grow room.

watts is watts. Adding 400W to a house is nothing. (check siggy to calcuate your room) Not enough to flag the Elec co. less then a GF moving in (TRUST me on that one!)

FLIR? another joke. (Unless you are running multiple 1K watters) Houses have insulation for a reason. The heat from the lamp isn't going to make a wall light up. (I need to fire up a lamp and take a few pic to prove this, I guess )

Room temps are kept low. a room thats kept at the desired 78F, and the rest of the rooms in the house are going to be really close to that also. So wheres the thermal sig coming from?

flir doesn't look for the heat in walls of houses.... because of that very reason, houses have insulation.

they look for the hot exhaust which lights up the FLIR... then the cop sitting by the FLIR looks with his bear eyes to see if the heat is generated from a light, like a halogen spotlight outside the house... if there's a heat signature coming from a spot that does not have a light, or anything else, that looks suspicious.... you can vent it through the dryer vent to make it look like you are doing laundry... or spread it under the house if it's up on a wood foundation...

ALSO, owning a grow light is not illegal. turning it on is not illegal. what is illegal is the plant. remember this, this is very VERY important.

unless you sell directly out of your house, or they see your plants, or someone signs and affidavit saying you have plants in your house, it is kind of hard for the "man" to catch you. a FLIR camera is not enough evidence. unless you are planning to run a 300 plant grow, carrying ridiculous amounts of soil and fertilizer, and living by yourself wasting like 600 dollars of electricity a month, and having a lavish, extravagant lifestyle without any sort of legitimate job.... you'll be fine.....

good info and for the last part it's nothing like that. Me and my girlfriend use it for medication, her for chronic stomach pain, me because it makes me feel better. Now don't get me wrong a little money never hurt, but not out of my house. thanx for the info + rep all
