I'm using GH flora nova bloom and i'm having serious ph issues. i go one gallon at a time ph-ing the water to 8.0 and the nutes drop it 5.4. is it normal for me to need a metric shitload of ph up just to raise it .6? im trying to get it up to like 7.5 but it really feels like i shouldn't have to use that much ph up. am i going about it wrong? is there a better way?

why are you going that high???its a hydroponic nutrient you shouldnt run that high.around 6 is good.are you using gh flora series nutes as your basics?thats what Im using and I run my ph around 6 with no problems.marijuana likes slightly acidic water your going to alkaline levels.and it takes alot more to go up then it does to go down.If your using gh flora series nutes it has ph buffers in it and does keep the ph down on purpose to try to conteract extreme rises that can occour

Well im going that high cause im in soil and the soil is pretty acidic as it is so im trying to balance it out. are there better nutes for soil that i should be looking into?

what ph up and down are u using ? chemical orange and blue acid and base .. or the organic shit? earth juice or something like that.. i was talking with the hydro store guy about not using chemical ph up and down switch to organic so that ill be at 100 % organic.. n he was talking about how u have to use half a bottle to do anything.. as opposed to 5 mls.. at the most.. so ill stick to chemical ph and stay at 90-10

Should need a drop or two. Are you mixing it in before reading? get some chemical ph up+down.

I have a very high PH of tap water (8.0) and I use the FoxFarm trio of nutes (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom) and it balances my water to right around 6.5-6.8. I use soil too. You want your PH for soil to be between 6.5-7.0, and you only need a drop or two of the PH Up to get your PH between that number. I'm not sure how much PH Up you are using, but keep it to a drop or two. Also, your nutes are made for Hydro so you might want to look into FoxFram which is for soil. Here is a link: FoxFarm. Good luck with your grow.

Interesting, have you ever actually checked the pH with each of the 3 products in the FF trio? They all have a very different effect on pH, it's fascinating you were able to sum it up like that.

I'm not sure what you mean. My tap water is a steady 8.0. Once I use the Grow Big and Big Bloom together it is almost a sure thing that my PH will be between 6.5-6.8. It gets a little lower when I have to use the Tiger Bloom with the GB and BB, but if you follow the schedule of FF, you don't use all the in conjunction for long. Alone, you have to balance the PH a little, but not by much. Do you doubt my veracity?

Only a little, I just know that Tiger Bloom is wayyy more acidic than any of the other 2 products so I don't think it could be accurate to say that 2tsp of Grow Big to your tap water has the same resulting pH as 2tsp of Grow Big. The FF feeding schedule, I don't think they are building pH into that -- you should still be responsible for pHing your water after adding the recommended dosages, and I'd reckon the adjustments differ week to week.

Get you some nutes specialy for soil your using hydro nutes.I hear jacks clasic works real good.and I also use super thrive in my soil and hydro grows.works wonders
right on, i've heard superthrive is good stuff too i'll prolly look into that as well

gh flora nova is good for soil or hydro since its an organic base. ive used it for both and nothing else. just get your gallons of water and dont ph it till you add the nutes let set for 30 mins then check it and adjust it you should have to only add a little ph up or down. with 7.0-8.0 tap and 1/4-1 tsp per gallon mine is 6.0 exactly after letting it set for an hour or so i usually only have to add a 1/4 or less tsp of the down. if you test your run off water and its still low in ph add dolomite lime to your soil to bring ph up! hope this helps!
