Is my buddy an idiot?

AN 3-part is no more expensive than any other and you never have to screw around with pH. If you do you screwup the pH Perfect aspect that makes them so easy to use. Others will work fine if you don't mind wasting a lot of time chasing the pH puzzle.

I've done about 50 DWC grows since '01 with AN and since they went pH Perfect it became so much easier.

All you really want is Big Bud and maybe some Rhino Skin if you're into silica supplementing. I use RO water only and go the whole grow without ever changing nutes so you save lots there. Tossing good nutes out every week is such a waste but suckers do it all the time.

Any old CalMag will do and only use 1/4 to 1/2 of that in RO. None if tap water tho with tap you'll need to change nutes every so often or the minerals in the tap water will build up in the rez and really screw everything up.

Keeping the nutes cool around 65-68F keeps rot from starting or using food grade peroxide twice a week always worked for me too. Lots of air bubbling is a must!

Good luck!

Thank you, have you ever used the foxfarms nutes? Im hearing a lot about it. Also im using a 13 gallon dwc reservoir per plant is this a waste?

I've never used Fox Farm anything. Tried a few different nutes the last 20 years and have used MegaCrop nutes the last couple grows in soilless/organic but going full soilless or DWC for now on. I won the MegaCrop nutes in a contest here about a year ago and recently won a kit of REMO nutes from a draw at a hydro store in the city but it's 2 hours away so haven't picked it up yet. A bunch of little bottles of their supplements with a couple bigger bottles of the base nutes. $100 retail so good enough to try them out tho it's unlikely I'll buy more unless they grow monster plants compared to AN or MegaCrop. lol

I'm impressed with MegaCrop. It has almost everything you could possibly want to feed a plant in one powder. Dissolves easily and with RO water the pH was 6.0. Using my dugout water that is pH 8+ and 400ppm it came out at pH 6.5 after sitting overnight.

How is your DWC set up? A single 5gal pail with 13gal rez for each plant?

I always use RubberMaid tubs for DWC. The taller tubs hold 50L when filled to just under the net pots and the shorter ones hold 35L. I often veg in the shorter ones then switch to a taller one when I go into flower. The lids are the same size so I'd just prepare a fresh tub of nutes then lift the lid up with the plants and drop it on the fresh one. Got lazy so most times just start with the tall one and never change nutes for the whole grow. Later in flowering might suck out half the nutes with a drill pump and tailor the feed for late flowering with less N and more K and S.

I've had up to 16 plants in one tub and it worked but very crowded. With one plant done ScroG style I got 8oz of bud and almost the same in sugar trim and popcorn buds so more plants doesn't always mean bigger yields.

Ive used ANs 2 part, just as good as anything else results wise. Wanna talk over priced bs, check out aptus
You can tell by the fancy words and website that they are worth their weight in gold. ;) No prices listed there tho.

All nute companies charge an arm and a leg for supplements yet AN gets most of the trolls bitching about them. Mainly because they went against the crowd from their beginnings by stating they made their nutes for growing pot while the rest lied thru their collective assholes and wouldn't even talk to you if you mentioned pot.

I tried the 2-part Sensi and Conny but didn't see any real improvement so the 3-part and a little Big Bud works fine for me. You can tailor your feeding for different stages better with the 3-part as well. The real grow geeks like to buy the individual components and custom tailor their nutes but that's a bit too much for my small grows. If I were to go big then I'd get into that to save lots of money but a couple hundred dollars of nutes lasts me for 5 years and gets me many pounds of pot so why bother.

Using a 13 gallon tote not a bucket i normally have 4 in one but they seemed crowded so i was just going to go with one at a time. Thanks again everyone for the info and happy grows

Right now, I’m only using the Veg+Bloom in my DWC. It’s working great. I like the idea of just having the balance the PH and use the same nite throughout the whole process. I might juice them up with some other stuff I got from a roots organics rep too
