Is the sex of the plant, nurture or nature?

Does the way the seedling is handled or grown, have a effect on the sex of the flower?
Or is that predetermined before they are even planted?

I was told...stressing a seedling or interfering with the tap root will cause a male.???

A lot of speculation, with a tad bit of science, nothing etched in stone though

Some say temps affect it

Some say addin a bit of N gives more females

Some play with banana peels as ethylene gas is supposed to affect it

Stress can (doesnt always)cause a female to go herm, but I've never heard of it making a male grow buds, so I would say mostely nature with a small touch of nurture

A combo.

Generally should have at least 50/50 odds but the right environment can raise higher.

I don't agree its as low as 50% female, my experience is about 70% female as not as many males are needed.
