Is there anything that would have stopped Adam Lanza from the massacre?

guns are expensive, jobless adam lanzas can't afford them.

a gun safe would have prevented this.
How do you know there was no gun safe? Were the guns just strewn haphazardly about the floor? ammo stuffed into every nook and cranny of the home?

The obvious answer is to arm all the teachers in the country. Arm the children too. Nothing bad could happen if everybody had guns :fire:

Seriously though there is no answer to this problem. Massacres are going to happen regardless of gun laws. People act like acts of genocide are something new....open a fucking history book

Arming children might not sit too well with some of us, I think its a bad idea. Arming the teachers doesn't sound so bad though.

I was being sarcastic

Maybe an armed security guard or two...but arming all the teachers would be flat out retarded

Here's another idea; how about retired armed service men and women serving guard post at each entrance to all the schools. it would create jobs and offer another sense of service to retired and active duty soldiers... maybe with the national guard or something like that... I'm positive that there would be proud men and women who would gladly serve by protecting these children's lives.

So at the school my daughters went to would need 10 guards, at a cost of $50,000 each. So your looking at a cost of Half a million a year just for one school.

How do you expect to pay for this?

Maybe with the national guard? So we can protect the school one weekend out of the month and 2 weeks in the summer?

Yeah WTF i guess people would be proud to serve and we all know how many bills having pride pays. God knows I love to put my life on the line for free.

Hey, I don't mind paying my taxes as long as there is a tangible result. Local school taxes included... and well, the NG is in swing constantly... rotation rotation my man... but I see that there is already a White House petition: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/have-armed-security-all-schools-across-nation-who-are-ex-military-combat-moss-or-combat-proven/LWSsbFTK

although there is also a petition to have a Death Star by 2016... https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/secure-resources-and-funding-and-begin-construction-death-star-2016/wlfKzFkN

...so maybe I'm nuts

Be a wonderful fucking job, sit around all day doing nothing, getting paid to do it. The odds of your school being attacked are miniscule. But hey, lets all say how we wouldn't mind our house payment going from $1200 a month to $1600 a month just because it's for the children.

It would be an honorable job. I'm sure that there could be a "Homeward Bound Soldier Battalion" formed where soldiers enlist for a small stipend in addition to their regular enlisted salary. As an exit course from serving... I'm sure there would possibly be a few bad seeds in that scenario, but to enforce a strict mental evaluation for each of the possible "job applicants "

in my opinion, something needs to be done to help protect our children, i don't know exactly what, but the cost shouldn't really matter. This is little children we're talking about here... you'd have to be pretty petty to complain about the lives of children vs. their cost of saving. Maybe one of those kids was going to grow up to cure AIDS or cancer or create a fortune 500 company that your kids would have invested in and made millions on...

I see your media lies just as much as ours does.

She had a total of 4 guns, I have over 200.
So true - only difference in AU is we were dumb enough to give up our guns in '96 after Port Arthur. Most Australians don't own a firearm, so anyone with multiples is considered a gun nut. Fuckin' stupid I know, but we've had draconian gun laws pushed down our throats for more than a decade and the result is now only cops and criminals have guns. DON'T GIVE UP YOUR GUNS...

like I said, a few bad seeds....

but I'll bite, and honestly claim my ignorance... who's that guy^^^? Was he the guy who went on the rampage in Afghanistan?

it all ties to mental health.

Not really no, again, if these people want a gun to kill people, especially children, they will get that gun.
true, but there are 'low hanging fruit' cases that can easily be stopped.

a simple fucking gun safe would have prevented lanza and the oregon mall guy.

we can never stop them all but simple gun safety would prevent plenty.

Yeah I didn't understand why she even needed all those guns, only takes one to defend yourself, maybe take away assault rifles and keep it one per person, not saying it would completly stop someone but it wouldn't have so many casualties.

I think the only thing that would prevent this is have a minimal of 2 officers in every school.
