I've heard this recently.. When you're growing indoor from seed and you veg 'too long' your plant won't mature properly...if this is true how long is too long?

im working on a 3-4 week harvesting cycle and I have two plants that are 7 weeks right now.. The one just moved into the bloom tent which took a little bit to be delivered. I was going to let the second veg a little longer until the first plant is halfway through its flower cycle... Just to get the whole perpetual harvest on the right track...

is 10 weeks too long to veg :p I'm aware it might be too long but will it not mature?

in my experience you should be fine...your biggest issue is making sure they dont become root bound during the time they are vegged. if you are using smart pots or something similiar it will help the plant naturally prune its roots. i have found though that smart NEED grow stones (or similar) at the bottom couple of inches in the bag or the else the roots at the bottom will not self prune.

This is good to hear :) once these two are harvested the cycle would be a lot smoother... I actually do use smart pots. I don't use grow stones tho ! Thanks for the advice I'd have to hook it up next time

I normally veg my plants untill preflower from seed, that's the sign that they are mature.

You should be perfectly fine. I have heard of people keeping a mother plant in veg for years. Just need to root prune if you grow too long. Even in smart pots.

But from what you describe, the only problem you may have is having to water them often because of such a huge root mass. I use 1 gallon smart pots in my sog and for the last week or so before harvest I am watering every day. Sometimes a bit more. They just drink like crazy.

If you are capable and keep her healthy 10 weeks is nothing. I have vegged plants for over 3 months by topping every shoot that can be topped. Now you can go to far I guess but I didn't and it looked like a burr. Not huge buds individually like if there were fewer branches. But I got over a pound and a half of good bud. Not popcorn crap. I turn that stuff and trim into tincture.

BTW this was from buying HPS low bay fixtures sight unseen from a commercial demolition company here. They were MH and not HPS. Couldn't afford more so vegged some longer until the ones in first finished. Was not an ideal gig to say the least but paid off well using one of those MH to veg the piss out of her.

These guys pretty much nailed it...you can veg as long as you want as long as you give that girl what she needs....someone already mentioned not letting her get root bound.......the beauty of indoor growing is that you control the plants micro enviorment....which includes the light cycle ( of course ) but I have seen 7ft plants in 5 gallon containers.....not ideal BUT....the grower kept up with the plants demands and the results were mega buds....10 weeks is nothing.....look at it this way....when I grow outdoors....my plants have already been started indoors for about 8 weeks...they go out in mid MAY to end of may and dont start to flower until the days are shorter mid JULY to end of July....calculate how many weeks those girls have been vegging......same thing goes for indoor except for you control the light switch!!!
