ISO Extraction

What would you suggest for evap in a place that is 30F-45F? The alcohol doesn't like to evap in that cold of temps. I'm running the hotplate at about 90F so it doesn't burn but isn't cold.
That’s definitely on the colder side. I’ve gotten it to evap in the 60s but never tried as low as you are talking. I use a fan blowing over the surface to provide enough air movement to get the evaporation to happen. If you’ve gotta add some heat, I’d just keep it as low as possible so it just barely raised the temps up.

Iso evap at room temp for me. What’s the hurry. Lol. I think 24 hours would evap most if not all. If I leave a bottle cracked enough by mistake. It will be gone by morning

I usually evap at room temp as well and 24 hrs with some air movement will usually evap a full quart of alcohol no problem. Froyd is talking about having temps down in the 30-40s though, maybe they are working in a garage??

Definitely in the garage. Not quite doable with an oil radiator. It keeps it above freezing in the garage but that is about there. Also, there is absolutely zero insulation in the walls.

Oh gotcha. Well. I blast with butane. So the evap point is much lower for me (I’m in my garage as well) I use boiling hot water to evap and purge. I’d assume that shouldn’t do to much damage to the terps? But I’m not sure.

Yeah, I was trying to keep the hotplate as low as possible. It's one of those flat top ones without the exposed elements and I can keep my hand on it without it feeling hot whatsoever. I think next go round I'll try the fan method and a tad less fluid on each batch without the added heat to see if it is comparable. Wish I had a larger flat brimmed glass container.

Can you get a wide Pyrex dish, that’s my favorite evap container.

I think you can order a silmat for baking that fits a cookie sheet. I have one. Been thinking of utilizing it somehow. Only thing is it has no edges. I have seen ones with edges tho.

Silicone and cannabis extract destroy each other. I think the residual catalyst in the silicone speeds up extract’s tendency to turn into brittle varnish.
