Isolating Males

Easy question. Is there any problem with using cfl's to get a male to open up and drop some pollen? I have some seeds left of some purple kush that's worth procreating but I don't have the lights to spare for a drone. I was hoping to set him up on lower floor with some cfl's to attain some pollen.

Thanks

Maybe you should clarify your question. Do you have a male plant? Are you asking if CFL's are good enough to flower with? What is it exactly that you are trying to do?

Problem with fluorescent is they don't have any penetration factor. Say you wanted to lolipop a plant to one bud, flower it right away and end up with a pretty small cola under a cfl.. Yeah turn it daily like you are supposed to it will be fine. Now a male plant has much less requirements but that cola is going to pack on a lot of pollen really.. So you can still lolipop it just down to the main penis head.

lolipop or cola only. chop everything off including all other side branches all the way up the stem until you get to the cola. At the very bottom of "same level as" the cola keep all the leafs this level and up are what we will grow now.

I flower my males along my females until they form nice CLOSED clusters.
When they look like they have a week or two before opening I move them to my PC grow case with one 45W CFL.

Its enough for them to finish, but not enough to produce a hell of a lot pollen.

Done it once with great success, and doing it again right now. (And I got 6 more males in the main flowering room)

If you just want to keep the plant alive until it drops some pollen for you, just stick it anywhere away from the main area and put any old CFL on it. Even the smallest CFL will keep the plant alive. Just put it on a 12/12 timer and away you go.
