Let me get this straight....We have thousands of drill rigs and since only one has leaked ( well I guess I won't mention Ixtoc, Prudhoe Bay. Red Butte Creek, and other spills. because that would blow your success rate right out the water and I do want to play along sooooo...). So what that this leak may ruin some parts of the Gulf for years to come....so what about the wild life that is now dead due to this one leak...so what about the 11 lives lost...it's only one leak.............Is that the understanding that I'm suppose to abide to ?????

yes this is true its a zero faliure thing or its suposed to be,


but i guess most of that argument about 99.998% thing applies more to the reason why there should not be a drilling moratorium.

but a blanket moratorium would be good politically for the pres to do. or atleast he thought it was. and now they fight about it in court



he still refuses to accept help from other counties, and we have 2000 skimmers in the usa they will not allow to help incase there a spill in thier areas

its like telling you they cant send the fire truck from the town down the street to help put out your inferno cuz they might have a fire overthere


if anything, like the other poster said they should require the oil companies to drill 2 wells on all deep water rigs. the extra cost could not be that much in the grand scheme of things

Nothing is zero failure...if it is done by man it can fail... I don't buy in to that 99.98 number because like I said one phuck up can ruin a whole coastal line or gulf....also I'm not against drilling...just do it safer and with more regulations..

We should get rid of all those pesky environmental regulations that stand in the way oil exploration and economic progress. In fact, why don't we sell the EPA and MMS to Exxon-Mobil and use the money to more oil from them for the military...?

by prepared we could make it a rule that all deep wells should be drilled with 2 wells one for pumping oil and the other as standby incase the first ones pops.

its very simple really to be prepared for this kind of "mistake"

So you agree that the government will have to keep a pretty close eye on safety then, no....?

That's why there's a moratorium....so they can go over the safety standards and make sure everyone is abiding. Also, if there's another spill, there's nothing left to clean it up with...

any idea how much this would increase the cost of gasoline?

i dont think it would increase oil price it would just increase the oil companies costs on deep well operations i cant see it costing more than 150% what it costs for 1 well. but i have no idea


but if a rig deep well cost 300 million to build spending 500 million for 2 wells could not be a huge adder to oil prices if any, but im just guessing here


but a politically expidiant blanket moritorium would make oil prices go higher and lose gulf states thousands of jobs and make the economy worse

and the dirty little secret about that is, the experts did not recommend a blanket moritorium but the government actually lied and said the experts did recomend a blanket moritorium. after which the experts came out publicly and said the government had distorted thier recomendations,

and this is why the judge in louisiana did not allow the governemt to proceed with the moritorium after the gulf states sued, and now obama and GovCo are changing thier case to remove this blatent lies/distortions that they told and are sending it for appeal.,


now i cant understand how u guys could support a lier like that, such a blatent and proven lie,

shit if it was bush who did that he would be a scumbag too in my book, trying to pass things that hurt our country just so he can look better in the polls? man that is dispicable and truley reveals how dangerous this man is to our nation,

i showed you a simple example where he is trying to hurt america just to make himself look good. thats the shit the bad guys do in movies no? the good guys dont do that


im telling you obama and his network are very smart and skilled. one thing they are not is patriots, they do not agree with the constitution they want to change what america is

and i love america i was gonna say i would die for it. but i dont think i would wanna die for it if people like him are just going to ruin it later anyway why stick my neck out.


we should be routing for our country first. not be blinded by our pesonal party affiliation. if a blanket moritoriom is not necessary and if a partial one is truley what is needed. they should do the right thing

instead of do the blanket moritorium thing to please thier uninformed base
