Well, I found out how the fans could be wired. You can use an old cell phone charger or some other converter that matches (or comes close to) the amount of voltage that the fan takes. So, I have a 12v computer fan hooked up to a 9v converter and it works fine.

Question. Lets say u use a 120v on a 12v.. Not that I am going to but would it fry the fan or just not work or work way to fast? I did something similar with a celphone charger and a GBC (game boy color) and no it has no sound unless U use the headphone jacks.. o_O

I wouldn't do that because I don't think that's too safe. Just use a converter that's matched or close to the amount of voltage the fan takes.

hey Jethrotull i wanted to show you my spin on your creation.

An out side shot: I know i need some material that wont let light pass though so much.

These are my lights which i riged up with stuff i got at walmart. 6 24 watt 6500k cfl putting out 1600 lumen each. I'll be switching 4 of them with 2700k 42watt 2700 lumen bulbs when flowering time rolls by.

And this is how i can raise and lower the light easily . I'm feeding the wire through a loop that lets me adjust it hight and i hold it in place with a clip on the outside.

Thanks for giving me the idea. I would be growing out of a garbage can if i didn't find your post.:joint::joint::peace:

Sorry, I've been busy with medical related things recently and haven't got a chance to swing by here.

Anyways, all the fans are powered by a PC power supply. The standard 4-prong molex connector goes: 12v+/Ground/Ground/5V+

So, I used the 12v rail and wired them all up to the computer power supply.

The only suggestion is to switch those extension cords for the standard 3-prong extensions cords. It's always good to have that extra ground there in case.

ohh man, I want to see you hook up a 12v fan to a 120 socket. I can see it on youtube now. The fan is 12v DC and the wall outlet is 120v AC. There's no way that it can end well let's put it that way.

Risk of bodily harm is high, and risk of damage to the fan is nearly guaranteed.

Good lookin' plants, keep'em up!

I have all the cords going to a surge protector which is on the timer. so its safe.

Looking good Jethro.
Have you been able to tell the sex yet?

I agree with Hearmenow.
I will top my clones that I have in veg now to get more top colas.
I will also trim the lower branches before I put in flower.

Keep doing the good work.
Happy growing

Been out for a couple days, but I have some pictures to welcome you back to the thread!

First off, I figured out where all my grow-space went! The damn light sockets began sagging and burning the plants. I tied them back and got another 3". Sweet.:blsmoke:

Some of the plants.

Close ups.

how old are they in those recent pics?
How many days in flowering?

I noticed there are some brown on the tips of the leaves,
isn't it best to clip those little tips off?

I'm not sure, but thats what i've been doing.

Looks good though!
Ill be keeping an eye on this thread:D

Laserbrn... I've done it before, allbeit a mistake not on purpose. I was making up a bench power supply for something I was working on, and it needed some good airflow to keep it cool. I had a pile of 6" muffin style fans to start with, well they all looked identical but, 5 were 120vac & 1 was 12vdc... guess which one I connected to my suicide cord? At first I though the "pop" when I plugged it in sounded kinda strong, before I could blink the motor on the fan started crackin' and popping, then the lablel went up in smoke, followed immediately by flames... followed immediately with me unplugging it and throwing it on the floor of my garage... not funny then, fucking' histerical now...

Ahh man, I wish I had seen it on youtube. Fortunately it wasn't too bad from the sound of things, but it's a hysterical story.

Man, I am loving this thread. Please keep us updated with pics and we want to know what the final take is. I am interested to know how much you get from two, healthy plants. I am going to make a grow box like this asap. Goodness, two fo these would be perfect, one for flowering and one for Veg, side by side in the closet, it would be a constant four plants all the time. This is like an interesting soap opera. I can't wait till the end to see what the final results were.
