I was in a similar position a few years ago..
Life going nowhere, the jobs that were available not worth shit.. Even if I took one I'd still be making below the poverty line..
Questioned joining the military, had a few meetings with recruiters, was on the verge of joining the NAVY, but after the meetings, I knew it wasn't for me.. even if I joined and did my job, I knew I wouldn't be improving my life at all. The military is designed to get people to sign years of their life away at the minimal cost available. The lower the better!
IMO, there are better ways to earn money than joining the military.. If you choose to do that, know the consequences. In todays world, you will not be welcomed back as a hero.. You will be viewed as a domestic terrorist trained by the US (ARMY/NAVY/Air Force/Marines?), combat ready..
Given statistics.. I just hope you don't commit suicide first..
