I lived in Poland Springs Me in the 70s and warn people about drinking the water. In 79 the house started shaking and we thought it was an earthquake. It was an army jet that crashed into the spring area which dumped tons of oil and fuel Sure, its probably been completely cleaned up, but why take the chance?

If your going to use bottled water, get it in the 5 gal refillable carboys. It's cheaper than by the gallon bottle. The PH might not be any better, so check that. I have had bottled water PH between 7 and 8.

why not just buy distilled water?

most distilled water i've used was always between 6.5-7.0 and never had a problem with it =D

but an easy way to lower your PH. LEMON JUICE!

Vinegar is probably the cheapest acidic household product you can find. Do an initial titration (determine how much vinegar to add to your water), then stick to the same brand and type of vinegar, as different types of vinegar may have different concentrations.

You can use any acid like lemon juice or vinegar to lower it and any base like amounia or to raise it. Or go to the hydro store and buy some ph up and ph down. It will be a lot simpler and cheaper in the long run than buying bottled water at the store.

True. I refuse to buy another bottle of water since seeing pictures of those plastic garbage islands in the Pacific.
