just dogs

since 1july22 i been dogless. 10 days ago, i went to our local pound and adopted a used 10 month old 17lb dog.

his name is jeffery. he is filling my emontional needs and we been bonding.

i got a 2 week warranty on him.

the only problem is that he shits in my house. i been you tubing on how to correct this, no luck.

any advice?

Try a crate, they wont' crap in it usually. Needs to relearn where and when to do his stuff.

Hard to believe we’ve had this little guy for 3 weeks now. He’s getting big and tiring the hell out of his not much older brother. Plus he looks adorable in his sweater

I pretty much took my guy out literally every 20 minutes and waited for him to shit. Then when he finally did, made a huge deal out of it with over the top exaggerated praise and treat rewards. He got it fairly quickly I think. I think you need to clean where they shit and piss in the house really good so there not like "yep, smells like this is the place I should do that".

Crate at night, xpen during the day when you can't keep your eyes on him. Keep a leash on you at all times and every 30 minutes to 1 hour take him out (to potty, not that 'take him out').

I keep Pupperoni Training Treats on me at all times. So when I dash out I have them in my pocket and they get a reward for doing their business, treble if they poop.

Ive used vics vapor rub after cleaning where they go with good success in the past .

blast from the past, in the 80s and 90s they had these vics vapor rub candy lozenges. little triangles of Vicks goodness. I'd eat the whole pack in one go if you let me.

he is making very little progress on his crapping habit.

been putting him out much every couple of hours during the day. just when i thought i had him, yesterday afternoon after spend most of the day outdoors, and coming back in....2 minutes later...a turd bomb.

his time is ticking for back to the pound

Nice red .beautiful pup too.thats too bad. Some are hardheaded for sure. Is he neutered?

the pound had chiped, checked for heart worm, de wormed, and just like me....neutered..lol

they even waived the adoption fee for me because of my age.

he had been returned once before and was waiting to be shipped out to another pound, probly his last stop.

that tugged on my heart.

the bite was on, caught 4 about this size...

i have a boat, but i can take a 1 hour car ride and fish at this state park for free.

my health is declining and docking and handling my boat is to much for me now.

Well I’ll tell you what let me/us know if hes going back first. Im sure we can find someone who might be able/ willing to work with him further first. I know if you were closer id get in the car now if needed. Is the house breaking the only issue right now?
