Just finished our tax returns

On close to a 100k gross income we got back 650 from the feds and 1500 from our state

The reason we got back anything and didnt owe taxes was the Mortgage interest deduction

One of those tax deductions the Republicans were talking about eliminating last year.

Wouldnt affect them at all but makes a huge difference if you are middle class

I'm no CPA but I've been doing my own taxes for 10 years now and am not sure how getting $7000 surplus back is even possible. There are only a`limited number of refundable credits available. I think he's lying or something. We basically got a surplus because I qualified for the Earned Income Credit.
 
This is the first year we qualified for it. With my wife being unable to work the last couple months due to a baby in her belly.

What is "right" has nothing to do with it and never did. Involuntary transfers of other peoples labor and property is the business model of government....it's the same one the mafia uses, at least the mafia is honest about their motives.

I owed the feds 68 dollars and got 720 from the state.

It is what it is.

And next year it is 932 from feds. Cus I be preggers.

How can an obligation (your owing the feds) be created unless you agreed to the terms ? Where did and how did the state get the money to erm "give" to you?
