just got my 400watt hps!!!!!

so i was growing with 6x42watt and 4x26 watt cfls for the past 3-4 months+alot of outdoor light. my friend just sold me his 430watt hps light with a 480watt ballast? the bulb claims brand new 54,000 lumens , but this is its 2nd grow i beleive so is the light output weaker? and if it is, is it still higher then 24,000 lumens that i was getting from my cfls lol... oh ya paid 40 bucks for the light/ballast :mrgreen:

oh no fucking kidding.... i was setting my plants in there and thought i melted my arm off.... any recommendations on height of light to plant? i got it about 25 inches away and the temp is about 79 degrees at top of plants

Start at 18 " and lower an inch everyday until you re at a level of not hot but light close as possible. I can do 6 inches sometimes right now actually

You just want to get it as close as you can without burning the tops.

Seems like every system is a little bit different, so you be the judge :)
