Just my new hobby :). Strawberry Cough + Chocolope.

Ok, so I'm a stage 4 cancer survivor thanks to the blessings of God, especially the blessing of cannabis and RSO therapy! From stage 4 to completely clean in 3 months (half a chemo treatment).

I still continue to use this miracle medicine on a daily basis for a myriad of reasons from ptsd anxiety control to nausea and just general "I'm an asshole"ness :).

So as the family and I recently bought a new, larger, home I figured why not try my hand at growing. Maybe even save a few bucks over buying from dispensaries..... Boy was that wrong lol. But still, I use to grow pot with my dad for a short while in H.S. 30yrs ago and they are some of my fondest memories. Maybe we can get back some of that tranquility the garden use to bring. Here we go :).

So my idea was to setup a rotating cycle of veg and flower like my father did. One "room" for each, but since I don't have that much spare room for a hobby I came up with the bright idea of putting two 4x4 tents inside of a 10x10 "lung" room kept at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and 60% rh. Then whenever one of the 4x4s got too hot or humid the exhaust for it could kick on to get rid of the heat while passively drawing cool lung room air in through the bottom mesh gates. And I honestly thought this was original lol. Found out differently.

My first mistake was buying a cheap ship from China 10x10. I bought a ipower tent. Friggin crap. Don't buy em lol. At the time though it's all I could find in stock anywhere including online so I risked it. My 4x4s will be gorilla grow and I'm looking at a Silverback tent by agromax to replace the 10x10. Actually ordered the first gorilla 4x4 along with the led to go in it from ledlightdepot.com 2 days ago. Went with a growers choice roi-e680. Got my eye on that new raging kush 2.0 from Scynce led though. Woulda got it but there's a 2 month pre-order right now.

I'm also growing in promix bx, using fox farm line up listed on there soil feeding schedule. I have a quality ec pen, ph pen and installed a r.o. filtration system. I even ran two new 20 amp circuits to the ceiling above my tent for independent power. Hopefully that's enough.

And now that everyone knows "the plan", here's the first ladies :).

Age: 1wk
Temp: 85f
RH: 80%
Light cycle: 24hrs

Germinated in ph'd ro water with clonex.
The 4 on the left are feminized strawberry cough. The right, chocolope. Both purchased from ilgm.com As you can see, unfortunately one of the sc failed to germinate altogether and another wasn't strong enough to shed its shell and came out somewhat conjoined. It failed to do anything more. Ilgm did make it right with me. They gave me a code for 130 bucks off my next order. The chocolope all sprouted.

Age: 2wks
Temp: 75f
RH: 65%
Light cycle: 18hrs

Transplanted my cubes today! Unfortunately broke one of the chocolope. But still 5 left and they look healthy. Under a t5 I got on marketplace while I wait for shipping. 18hr cycle.

That's the end of this one folks. Next week, same bat time, same bat channel :).

Thanks so much guys for the well wishes! And following my grow. Any and all feedback is always appreciated.

So the girls are 3weeks and a day now and looking good for the most part. I fed them nutes for the first time yesterday. According to the fox farm schedule for wk 3 but half strength as the ec was seriously high at first. I ended up diluting with R.O. water to a ec of 1.7 as I figure there still quite young. I ph'd the solution to 5.9 beforehand and measured the run off after feeding at 6.3. Ill probably try starting with a nute solution at 5.7 or so next time.

As stated earlier were looking "mostly" good lol. The third chocolope is coming up sorta twisted and with small discoloration on some leaves that ill have to research later.. photographic evidence included! :)

Well, this week is sorta a mixed bag folks. Got good stuff and bad.

Start with the bad I guess. Unfortunately I had an accident working in the grow room and took a fall. Actually ended up fracturing my tail bone. To make things worse though, I landed on my plants! Snapped 3 out of 5 and one of the 2 remaining was the ugly chocolope so I'm going to be restarting seeds again.

The good news? It was like Christmas for the grow op this weekend :). Got a bunch of new toys!

First ofcourse I got my first gorilla 4x4 with high cfm kit ( let me tell you, the quality difference when compared to the ipower.... no comparison lol ) and my first light ( growers choice roi-e680 ).20210220_180526.jpg20210220_182458.jpg20210220_182206.jpg
Also received a bunch of controllers, humidifiers, de humidifier, portable ac, heaters and an apogee m500 meter i haven't used yet to measure ppfd. Here's a collage ending with the new start :).

I'm thinking of doing that actually. The tents are in my basement though so I'd have to build a room.

I'm also debating on what to get for a second light. Thinking of doing either a grow off against an hlg 600r or maybe trying the new ion led from growgeneration.com. Anybody got anything they would like to see?

Also I forgot to show my exhaust fan. I went with an ac infinity t6 with temp and humidity control.

The ion LED is just a rebranded alibaba light.

Ok so I've ordered a spiderfarmer sf7000. There newest light. This is a quantum board style with uv included and a removable driver. So hopefully this will give us an interesting comparison with the roi-e680.

So four days in and I've got some sprouts :). Transplanted into pots and put under approx 400 micromoles ppf. I know this is a bit low to achieve 40 moles dli w/18hr light cycle but figure there still very young so safer for now?

That's most of the stuff for the second 4x4. Just waiting on the actual tent now.

So it's a week today since I dropped my seeds into rockwool and all but one made it. Again one of the strawberry cough popped its head up and then did nothing.

I ran out of my square bucket so had to grab what the grow shop had for the last two wich is slightly annoying cause of the different size but hopefully another 3-4 weeks will be enough to develop a full root system in them. Hoping to put them in there final pots by then. Thinking of going with ten gallon cloth pots even though 7gal seem to be the preference from all the threads I've read. Reason being that these are both long flowering strains (10 wks for chocolope) and starting from seed I'm expecting a 9 or 10wk veg aswell. Plus they fit so why not lol.

I also installed a second water supply in my basement for the tent and ran a poor man's drain consisting of a bottom draw pump, a bucket and a bunch of 1/2" hose ran along the joists to my washer drain.

Two weeks old today. Couple looking a bit limp. I'm assuming due to the trouble I've been having maintaining RH. I live in the mountains of Maine and during winter our RH drops severely and my humidifiers keep running out of water lol. So if anyone knows any large non-digital humidifiers :).

I've increased ppf to about 625-650 over 18hrs giving me a bit over 40moles dli.

Also increased temperatures to 75°f low (lights off) and 85°f high. Getting rdy for co2 temps. 85-95 from what I've read.. Another week and I'll add co2.

This actually raised another question for me. Is there a recommended temperature difference to maintain between the lung room and the grow rooms? Right now I'm maintaining a 15-20° difference. This gives me enough time from when my fan kicks on to when it ramps back down to make a 5° drop in the grow room. I know your suppose to be able to set a range with my cloudline t6 but haven't found out how yet.

I also received the rest of the second tent, hung the light and took a few ppf measurements but more on that later as I haven't finished recording yet. These are just a peak.

Got some yellowing/browning of a few leaves. Again only thing I'm figuring is low rh still. Ive seen it as low as 30% and the leaves do feel a bit dry to me.. I've looked at the leaves with a jewelers loop and found no insects. Any advice?

The yellowing has spread to another leaf on the same 3 plants. The leaves do feel better today after watering yesterday. Not as papery. I also used half str nutes this time using week three of the foxfarm soil feeding schedule. Ec of 1.3. My solution was phed to 5.8. My runoff was collected and tested at 6.2ph (freshly calibrated tester). I bought a cheap soil meter and it says it's high but I've been told by multiple sources not to trust them. It may be the only other thing I know to try though if I don't get any advice here. We will see what giving it some nutes does.

Another thing, alot of the plants have reached there fifth or sixth node wich is when I've read you should top them. Grow to the sixth cut at the fourth node leaving a little stem behind to brace the top set of branches when they grow bigger. But I don't know if I should add the stress of topping to these plants already experiencing an as of yet undiagnosed problem.

I believe it's heat stress from the lack of humidity I'm dealing with and perhaps a small nutrient uptake problem due to a high ph in the soil. I've ordered a larger humidifier for the lung room, 6liter instead of 2.5. So hopefully adding that will help. Next watering I will try going down to a 5.4 or so. I'm also backing the temp off 5 degrees to a high of 80. Atleast until I add co2. I was unable to make it to the grow shop to fill my co2 tanks this week but will make it a priority next.

Tossed one chocolope that just wasn't performing well. Just a lazy plant or something lol. This gave me a peak at her root system though and I am feeling confident in transplanting next week. I didn't get a pic but they looked nice.

I also topped all of them down to two sets of nodes from 5 or 6. Let em recover from topping for a week and plop em in there new homes :).
