Just "OG"?

There's a dispensary near here that is selling clones and buds that are only identified as OG. I mean, not like Kush OG or Dogpuke OG, just OG by itself. Does such a strain exist? Was there a single original OG strain?
 
You will have to make more enquiries at the Dispensary such as, who are the seed makers?

At least then you will be able to do a search on the seed and seed company.

Not all strains come from seed companies and have info in the net about them.
 
OG could also equal one of a million OG hybrids out there these days... these seem like good questions to have asked the dispenary prior to purchase.
 
They probably have no idea what it really is, mighf not even be an og. Clones are tuff that way. If u bjy it grow it out and like it, I say give it a cool name andmand maybe youve got the next GSC on your hands. Highly unlikely but yq never know.
 
OG kush has pretty standard expectations as far as growth and look... you should be able to tell by the time you get into flower if it's the real deal or not. It's pretty unlikely if it's a random cut that it's going to look like OG. Top early and often if you want it to yield big it's not much of a side brancher :)

The more I think about it, the fact that you even have to ask really makes this dispensary seem highly sketchy. It's sloppy operation to either not know what they have or not really label it properly. If this is how they manage their cuts, makes me doubt everything else they do. If they're sure it's og kush, it's labelled improperly. If it's not og kush, what the fuck? It would really make me not trust'em. It seems kind of anal, but really it's just being a professional.
 
OK, well here's another ignorant question: Is Kush supposed to be indica? When I first heard of Kush in the 80s it was connected with an Afghan indica that was about the strongest I've ever had. But now, I've seen dispensaries listing it under sativa or hybrid. Has the line been blurred?

Yeah I think the line has been blurred. The name Kush originates from the Hindu Kush mountain range in Pakistan and India where a lot of indicas came from . The term "kush" now is added on to a bunch of strains to boost interest and marketability. Its generally associated with the OG/Chem Dawg type strains,that grow stretchy like sativas in structure but have smaller dense frosty buds that give a sedative body stone. Just my observations anyway

Yeah I got some Chem Dog now and it feels intensely indica, but the dispensary labels it hybrid. It's a shame that "kush" doesn't mean much anymore. The stuff I got courtesy of Reagan's CIA was so strong that people who tried it would complain about how bad it fukced them up, it was so much stronger than the Mexican brick weed they were used to smoking.

if their being vague about the strain, its probably bc they have no idea what it is. theres so many og crosses, og like crosses... floating @ california that imo its impossible to know what your getting unless you smoke it. OG was a clone only for a long time now theres a bunch of seed versions but they are crosses. the chance of picking up a clone off a 20 year old mother plant at a random disp. are not very good. otoh if you smoke it and you like it then who cares. 8)
