I ordered some stuff off amazon. after much research I plan on doing a vertical grow in a room I don't use. I bought an ipower 400 watt dimmable ballast, 400 watt hps, 400 watt mh, mogul socket with 15' cord, jr peters 20-20-20, and jr peters 10-30-20 all off of amazon. I know ipower is cheap and not the best, but im gonna try and do my best for the cheapest price. I plan on going to home depot or lowes for some soil and some pots and saucers. I plan on ordering either bodega bubblegum or jelly pie seeds from greenpoint after receiving my medical license. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've grown good weed with iPower sets. Bulbs aren't the greatest but you'll get weed. Upgrade the HPS and stow the MH when you can.

Those lights will work just fine. A good start, a nice useable 400w setup. Plenty of experienced growers swear by the Jacks classic ferts, tons of info available out there on grows using that stuff....
Home Depot will have useable soils. Avoid anything with any sort of "time release" chemical nutrients, (Miracle Grow). Ive seen the Dr. Earth brand in my local HD, their products are very useable. Get a big bag of Vigiro brand perlite, its like $18-20. Any store bought soil should have perlite added at least 25% extra, in my opinion.
Get a dust mask, for mixing the soils and perlite, NEVER inhale the dust.....
A cheap TDS meter, for checking PPM of feeding mixes will be a useful tool. Some sort of PH measure is also helpful. Even a plain old dropper and vial kit, is better than nothing....

Don't over water
Lol. Yeah i know. I plan on having 6 plants in solo cups for a few weeks and then transplant to 3 gallon pots. I've read its best to lift the pot up to see how dry it is before watering.

Yeah from what I've read, its supposedly a great budget brand. What budget bulbs do you prefer?

Don't use soils promising bigger or better anything . Buy organic soil. Buy a bag of perlite. Mix in a lot of perlite. Don't go nuts with nutrients . Buy some good fans. Keep a lot of air moving at all times around and over your grow.

I plan on getting some promix and using ph'ed tap water for the first few weeks. If my plants show signs of deficiencies then ill feed some 20-20-20. I dont plan on using additional perlite because I feel it is unnecessary and I want my soil to retain water so I wont have to water as often. I do plan on giving a little extra sulpher powder in the flower stage. I've read that a little extra sulpher and phosphorus does good in flowering.

Yeah I just plan on buying some promix and using nutes only when my plants show signs of deficiency. Ive been told before to treat it like a plant and keep it simple and that's what i plan on doing.

I mainly just wanted to see if anybody has experience on growing vertically with hps since I dont want to waste money on a tent or hood. And if anybody has experience growing either jelly pie or bodega bubblegum from greenpoint seeds. I may also be interested in Texas butter from greenpoint.

Yeah I've read about it. I plan on hanging the bulb from my ceiling in the center of my plants. But first ill probably just go buy a couple cfls and hang those till they get bigger.
