Things are a little different this time so I figured I'd start a new journal.

Running 2 GLH Spectra 290's, one Luxim Plasma Light, and one 1k Lumatek ballast.

The GLH's are over some aeroflow's. The plasma is over a 3'x3' flood and drain table. The 1k is over some 5 gallon smart pots with Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil (yea I know it starts off a little hot but short on funds so couldn't make a proper soil mix).

Anyways, here's some pics to start. The girls under the LED's are my clones as well as the soil girls. I got the cuts (hash plant) that are under the plasma from a buddy. They're not looking too hot and they had some spider mites so they were in quarantine at first but they are turning around.

Strains are Kannabia's Big Band and White Domina (freebies from Attitude) and an unknown purp strain under the LEDs. 1K has one Utopia Haze, 2 Big Band and 2 unknown purp.

Flood and drain cuts are all hash plant.

Running DynaGro for my aero plants, left over AN for the flood and drain, and haven't decided what I'm going to run for the soil girls once the Fox Farm nutes wear out.

reading your post and my op, I should specify the 1k is in a tent in the garage. The LED's and plasma are in my shed.

That's cool, I'm excited to see the plasma, I've only seen one grow with one of those and it was badass.

Yea, it is bad ass. My last grow sucked because of the heat but the girls under my plasma actually gave me something decent. I'm excited to give it a better set up and run this time. Unfortunately the clones I got from my buddy are shit. I got 11 and 5 have died. I killed off the mites but they're taking their sweet ass time to grow into the larger rock wool cubes. Only 1 has started to puts roots into the larger cube.

Girls are really moving along now under the LED's and 1k. The clones under the plasma are still kind of shit but I've got them on the right track. Had to remove a couple and put some clones of the other shit I have going in there so hoping they'll catch up quick.

I'll probably flip to 12/12 for the LEDs and plasma here in the next couple days. The 1k still has another week or so.

Ok, so rolling along now. flipped everything to 12/12 starting today (well actually did the shed on saturday but I was going to reset the timer before DST was over but I forgot to plug the timer back in on Monday night so they went 24 with the light).

The flood and drain table under the plasma is finally catching up. Moved my LEDs up this afternoon.

Been busy as fuck but things are looking good. LEDs are kicking ass and nearing the end of their stretch. Plasma girls are looking great but the motherfucking mites came back (been dousing it with neem to get rid of the fuckers). The tent is also humming along.

why do you cover your pots with landscape fabric? does it help keep the surface darker for the roots? or to retain moisture?

I don't cover them. They're the smart pots. The actual pot is fabric. It's supposed to stop root swirl at the bottom and encourage an oxygen rich environment for the roots. I've seen several people use them on here so I decided to give them a try.

Oh I see, it's plastic to retain moisture! I had looked at the thumbnail pictures and the plants I was talking about were actually the little clones! From just looking at the thumbnail I thought you were covering your main pots with landscape fabric! I have seen a lot of people using the smart pot and I have not come across any bad reviews on them so I started to make my own... somewhat, using landscape fabric. It seems to work!

Ah, yea I have parts of a trash bag over the rockwool cubes because the little starters that I got from my buddy had a nasty algae/slime mold shit going on top of them. Hit them with a little hydrogen peroxide and then covered them to take care of that.

And everything is rolling along pretty smooth now. Been so smooth that I've been kind of lazy about updates and pics. The girls in the tent had a little bit of a zinc deficiency but after a couple of feedings it's going away.

2 weeks later and everything is looking great. A little bit of burn or deficiency for the tent here and there but girls are filling out well.

Been busy as fuck so no updates until now. I took down the plasma plants and LED plants. The plasma performed great again but was hampered by lack of plants to start with. The LEDs kicked off some fantastic bud but it was very fluffy. I only have pics of the tops because I didn't feel like taking pics during the trimming sessions after the initial night.

The quality on the plasma and LED was outstanding. I have been a bumbling forgetful fucking idiot for the last week or so. I like it. There is definitely a learning curve with these lights though. This time I made the mistake of letting them get too tall. The lights just didn't have enough penetration to get the lower stuff to do anything other than throw a few pistils. I trim pretty aggressively throughout veg and early flower to make sure enough light gets low but the plants were just too tall (about 36-38").

The tent is kicking ass and taking names. Despite some nitrogen deficiency early (because I started feeding them too late), they have produced beautifully. I did cut one down because of my filter being overwhelmed and the quality was good. I left the other of this strain and it's packing on weight like crazy now. Oh well. The Utopia Haze is a hungry plant and I should have fed her more and more often earlier. She's throwing some great buds but there are a fuck load of yellow leaves and the very top of the plant has had to be picked out for various reasons. The real victory of this grow is the Big Band. That bitch is dense as fuck, covered in crystals, and smells sweet. Anyways, enough typing. Here are some pics.
