Keeping Mom Producing..

Ok I'm ready to move up to self sustainability.
I grow in soil. It's the devil I almost know:dunce:
I got a clipping from my Judy to root and she is taking off.:-P
Plan is,
Judy's clone to be my mother,
This is going to be Mom's room Judy-10-6-10-4.jpg
The Mother/Clone Cabinet gets 24/7 light.
Once she is big enough I plan 1 clipping every 3 weeks.
Clones veg for 3 weeks and go to the 12/12 cabinet until ready to harvest :-P

What I don't know is how to keep "MOM" down in size and healthy at the same time.
Do I reduce lighting intensity and ration out nutrients or just work MOM like a bonsai.:???:

Take a hit,
Sit Back for a moment,
And then give me your $0.02 on the subject.

And as always

:peace:

i keep my mother in 18/6 lighting schedule, and your lights in your box do not seem bright enough from the looks of your pic imo. i would add more light but switch to a 18/6 lighting schedule that way you can take clippings more often. I use advanced nutrients and my mother nute mix is sensi grow A & B and i only mix 2ml of ea in 1 gallon of purified ph balanced water 5.6-6.2 ph, i have my mother in coco soil and hand water everyday. hope this helps you

Yes all clones,
there are 2 23 Watt 5000K for 200 W light. This is to be my mom / clone cabinet.
Judy-10-6-10-4.jpg

Once the clone is viable it goes to the 12/12 cabinet with 900Watt mixed spectrum. This is Judy's room.Judy-9-9-10-13.jpg
they are attached via vent and exhaust pipes.
This way all air is filtered in and carbon scrubbed out.

The fan is for when mom clone comes out from under her dome. Small but effective.

So 200W not enough to sustain mom & 4 clones to rooting? :?:

As I don't want runaway growth from mom, What would you consider the minimum wattage for the job?

You're reading the wattage incorrectly. The True Wattage is the first number on the CFL package, it's always the smaller number, in your case 23W. You would need probably 10+ of those to support your plants. It is NOT 200W, that is just the wattage equivalent. Basically, it is irrelevant for growing. I grow with 2 125W 4700k CFL's and they can only support 3-4 plants. So always go by the smaller number on CFL packaging. I learned this the hard way for my first grow. Essentially, your only using 46W for your grow.

I just found a 68 watt 2700K (300 watt equivalent) at the home depot for $15. each. Gonna make a great addition for my flower cabinet.
This is it. http://www.elightbulbs.com/TCP-01761-28968-Twist-Screw-Base-Compact-Fluorescent-Light-Bulb

You are correct on your assessment of the lights in my clone / mother cabinet.
I am not interested in rapid growth. Just a place that will keep mom slowly growing and healthy:weed:. The clones will only stay there till they leave their domes. then its off to flower cabinet where there is (the equivalent of) 1200 watts of mixed spectrum cfl's.

I just need to know how to care for a mom as I want to have a perpetual grow happening.
Just a clone every 2-3 weeks and I should be taken care of.:eyesmoke:

Many thanks for pointing out the limited lighting though.
Any thoughts on mom?
:peace:
