Kief question

What's the purpose of turning/pressing kief into hash? Cant I just sprinkle it into stuff in its original form? Does the potency change during the pressing/heating process?

Pressing it will keep the inside of the chunk from exposure to oxygen that will degrade it. So like when you get a slab of hash it's dark on the outside but when you cut into it the color is much lighter. So if you are gonna smoke it all right away then no need to press it. If you want it to have some shelf life then you should press it.

if I press between a manual car jack and a car would it be enough pressure to make rosin?

To make rosin you need controlled pressure and heat. If you just want to press kief you can buy a pollen press pretty cheap under 15$. Like Renfro posted you will get longer shelf life.

Like Renfro said, if you are just dealing with small amounts for personal use, zero need to press it. Sprinkling kief on your bowls and blunts is one of life's great pleasures.

i see, thanks, i could afford that. i like longer shelf life. I think more purity means less volume. i guess i want least volume with most shelf life. i think a car isn't enough weight to bring rosin more i look into it.

the pics I see of kief pucks don't look like hash to me and don't look like you could make hash from them but maybe i'm wrong?

Has anyone tried storing kief in the freezer?, maybe it’ll help stop degrading, i like kief more than hash, but yeah, won’t sit long on the shelf.

When you make dry sift hash via heat and friction besides a different high you get a terpene you dont get in normal kif frenchy canoli talks about it on one of the vids on YouTube i also like his method for making old school dry sift hash too you pretty much take wrapped up kief and using a glass bottle full of warm water you roll n press it sometimes turning it till u got hash like say like standard Moroccan if you keep going with it you get something more similiar in consistency to afghani or pakistani or nepali/indian black if you ever had that id say its the best use for good kif imo
