kingbrite lens insulation?

just got the delivery from Kingbrite (I'm impressed how securely it's packed!)

I notice that the rubber band on glass piece completely insulates the cob from everything else.

Will this not result in water condensation?
If I'm right, would it help to simply drill two extra holes in the heatsink?
Any thoughts?

Hi,

Why not just seal in low RH and temperature conditions to ensure no condensation occurs ?

Having a hole can be a pita, as you never know what will get in. ie gnats, dust, whatever ..

IMHO you do want some airflow since you're not building a street-light. Heat will effect radiometric output and/or efficacy so I know I would want some holes though it does sorta beg the question, "Is active cooling better for a DIY rig with a lens setup"? And "where to put the holes", of course ;)?

Lenses gotta get cleaned even if you're running in a clean room so a quick release design for popping the lens on and off quickly enough makes it easy when one of those little gnat bastards gets in there :). @badtorro, Can you mount the lens with some sort of gap between the lens and the case/heatsink? IDK your design so maybe you could do that unless you plan on hosing your light down :).
