Clinical Lycanthropy is slightly different in the sense the sufferer doesn't acknowledge they are physically human. Therianthroprs know they are physically human though they may be on a constantly sliding scale between animal consciousness and human consciousness. Also, Therianthropes come in all species. I just happen to be a wolf, which is the most common (and so most cynically criticised) theriotype even amongst the community itself. Wolves get twice the amount of grilling, questioning and skepticism for good reason; the wolf is a heavily romanticised animal, twilight fans often have a 'wolf phase' or people jump to conclusions and end up confessing six months down the line they're actually another animal entirely. I always knew it was wolf but not that big, with relatively large ears. Then after about a year of research I found a picture of canis lupus Baileyi that matched a self portrait I drew... I found my subspecies that is as small as a German shepherd and my height from nose to tail. There a huge correlation with incidences of DID, ASDs, learning disorders, synaesthesia and other sensory processing disorders. There are many studies looking at similarities between the wiring of the autistic mind and those of animals... Look up Temple Grandin.

I feel sorry for those trying to be a vegetarian with a carnivorous theriotype though... The funnest day I had was when I displayed some work a Dulwich picture gallery, including a live artwork that involved getting the guests to dress up in fox costumes I made (as if to mock the human gallery visitors, like a cakewalk) then I invited along a fox therian I met online. She was a tremendous help with the project, and it ws interesting to be around a cousin animal, vulpes vulpes- similar, but not so similar to me.
