The top of the sponges will turn green because the light is shining on your plants and some algae will grow on the top of the sponges. That is why you have to use the labels that cover the top of the pods to keep the algae to a minimum. In the spots that you are not growing in just put the pods back in and cover the tops of the pods with foil tape that can be purchased at Home Depot in the A/C department. Doing this will keep the light out of your rez and will prevent algae in your rez and problems like root rot.

Yes!!! Greengurlie thank you also!! your thread showed me what roots really should look like in the aerogarden you had some perfect pictures that ive been looking for weeks for!! Also you can use the top of a milk cap to cover the holes they fit PERFECTLY!

and wow that stuff i got seems to maybe be working, my baby isnt dead or dying at the rate it was. im sure its still silly to try and keep it but i think maybe i can still learn more before putting the nirvana seeds in and um possibly even get some smoke outa it hehe. wonder if it is bad to smoke buds that had fungus growing. hmm

They may still recover, it will take a little time. I would wait and see.

I took it off 12\12 and put it back to 24\7 thinking it needs the light and stuff to try and grow not the darkness. it seems to be working better

omg something looks way wrong.. or maybe its it healing but i doubt it.. check out these pix i got some white fuzzy shit growing on the base of the roots.. got the ph at 5.8 using fish store stuff got airstone in there added the microbial flushed with florashield then added hygrozyme and 1\2 of a nut tab... the temp is at like 70 degrees

i threw away the really bad dead one with the short dead root. the other one i rinced the roots in running water and tried to get as much of that white stuff off as possible maybe some1 here knows whatsup? Im about ready to giveup at this point and start a-new but i really want to try and fix it and see what happens also.. what is that nasty white ass hite

I would flush with 2tsp of H202 and distilled water for 2 days and make sure i have a air stone in the rez. If you use Ozarka distilled water, it has a pH of 5.8 and 0 ppm right out of the jug. Make sure that all of the empty pods are covered so light does not get into the rez. Then i would change the rez with fresh nutes. If you are using AG nutes that came with it, i would throw them in the trash and get some Foxfarm nutes and Liquid Carma and add the SubCulture , hydroguard. Then i would check the rez every morning and top it off with distilled water and check the and make sure the pH is between 5.8 and 6. Trim off all of the dead leaves on the lower 1/3 of the plant for good air circulation and put a fan blowing on it 24hrs a day. I would put the pump on for 24 hrs and the light on a separate timer and set it to 18/6. If you do not have a separate cord and timer for the light just set it to the salad greens setting. That will give you 16.5/7.5 with the pump on 24 hrs. Then i would give it a week and see how it responds.

Fungus Amongus.

I'm no botanist, but that's what it looks like to me. the slime on the roots prevents them from getting water/nutrients to the plant. I've been having more than my fair share of problems with pythium and/or what the fuck ever else this root slime could be. :spew: I feel for you, but it could be worse, you could be 9 weeks into flower like me, and THEN lose your plants.

I look forward to see how the microbial stuff works out for you. I'm going to ditch organic nutes so that I can use H2O2 in my systems regularly.

Good luck man. :peace:

wokeup this morning.. more slimy nasty stuff that im pretty sure was not pythium on the roots. im gonna kill this plant either today or tom and get ready to clean the whole thing ( i think with just bleech & water and then start over... now should i germinate the seeds in the AG or in paper towels on a plante with a bowl over it to keep it dark.. i almost want to try doing it in the AG... soon i will start a new thread in the grow journal section i think when i start my new grow... tho i do love this thread now hehe and am glad my problems have been able to help others... yeah 9 weeks into flowering then getting root rot oh man id cry!

You shoud flush with H202 and distilled water with a pH of 5.8 and maybe a drop of SuperThrive for 2 days. Then change the rez with fresh nutes SuperThrive, SubCulture and Hydroguard. The H202 should kill that stuff on the roots in a couple of days.

im chopping the last plant.. fuck it starting over but does anybody have any idea what this shit is on the root?... also when should i introduce the subculutre into the system after seedlings at start of growing or flowering or.. the FloraShield I can use during the whole grow and the Hygrozyme too. I know h2o2 is bad during becuase of the organic nuts and the other stuff. but will any of those three mixing cause a problem. Somehow I think the subculture casued this new fungus but what do i know....

I don't think the subculture caused it. I don't see it on my roots, but it's on the cocotek lids of my net pods in my aero setup. I am a touch worried, as I haven't seen anything like that anywhere in my research yet. :( eep!

appearently that is mold. my best guess would be that the mold was caused by heat? I dunno. I'm experiencing/trying to figure it out right now myself. I think I am going to have to flush with H202 for a day or so. :(

wow.. got any pix meta? on a side note i took apart the mean stem of the dead plant and part of it was almost hollowed out with this brownish ring thru it.. really interesting to see how the desease went thru the whole plant. i bad that woulda proved for bad smoke... no pix on that one tho sry :( also there was some nasty yellowish slime on my airstone. so maybe whatever that mold? fungus was is growing off the oxygen?

killed the last plant today.. after letting it sit, didnt want to wash the roots again last night in the dark it got really slimy again. if its not the subculture directly thats casuing it maybe its because i mixed it with the microbial? idk but now im afraid those additives i bought produced a different type of smile\mold on the roots so im cautious about using anything really in the new grow..

yeah man, check out the pics I have in my gallery, I think there are only like 3 there or some such shiz. Anyhow, the mold crap appears to be on the cocotek lids I have. It really looks exactly like the crap that was growing on your roots. I dunno. It might have been beneficial somehow. I know that coco coir is supposed to have good bacteria in it, or at least that's what I've been told. I haven't quite tried to get rid of the mold or anything yet, and it hasn't spread to my roots either, so I don't know.
I don't even know quite how to research this stuff. "white mold" is pulling up utter crap and doesn't seem to be applicable to what we are/were experiencing. :P

In short: I really don't know. Anyhow, pics in my gallery. Check the cocotek lids. ;P
