Yeah, they work well, still amazed at the speed of flowering and intensity off only 315W. Still noticing some slight bleaching of the PPP leaves @20" height, maybe that PPP strain is just more susceptible, not seeing any on the JTR.

I have 300w (@1400 ma) of 3070 Cree COB's and all the components that I'll be building once things calm down and it gets a bit colder here. I think they'll be very close from what I've seen some folks pull with those COB's. A side-by-side could be in the cards down the road, next couple of runs I'm trying out some new strains and DIY crosses. You need same strains and clones or it's an invalid comparison imo.
That's crazy they are still bleaching at 20", most 400w bulbs won't even
penetrate very deep into the canopy at that height.

You are absolutely right on using the same strains and clones for a valid
scientific experiment. Validity is in the rigor of the controls of any science
experiment. You not only need same strains and clones, you also need to
select clones that have been growing at a similar rate and have similar root
size and foliage. Best thing to do is take 3x as many clones as you need
and select the ones that are the most similar in all aspects. I went to school
for chemistry so I can really appreciate a well designed experiment!

Yeah, crazy intensity, and it's 20" + about 30" to the soil, yet the bottom/middle buds are developing well, very little popcorn first run other than in the very bottom/centre where little light got through. Def agreed on the controls, I'm an IT guy so I'm well versed in controls/testing/logging ;)

G'day Indy I'm currently running 2 a51 sgs160s at the sides of my d papillon 315w lec and things are looking rather tasty
nice! the best results i've ever had were from CMH and LED combo.
the LED was 10 parts red(equal 630 & 660), 2 part blue(440 &460),
3k white, 9k white, and 1 part 730nm. CMH was 400w General Electric
constant color chromafit 92 CRI.

Nice, imo mixing spectrums/colours, specifically with white light may have some merits for flowering MJ, I think it's finding the right mix. A recent side effect of adding some 2700k + 4000k bulbs in my breeding tent for additional heat, resulted in probably double the yield (haven't pulled these yet) over anything I've run with a low-end 3000k COB light I use in that tent (which produced double than when I was running those LG LED multi-spectrum 3w panels). I've never been concerned with yield in there as my aim is to get seeds. But after seeing what just happened by mistake, I'm going to play around with that and see if I can replicate it.

Pic below is the breeding tent with one JTR and one PPP (fems), selectively pollinated branches for a few crosses I want to try. 1x 200W LED COB Spot Light, plus the DIY panel you see top/centre angled down on the tops, the DIY panel is running 3x 13w 2700k CFL's, 3x 10w 4000k LED COB bulbs, 70w total, so 270W in a 2x2x4'. The plants were much bigger than I usually run, extras from my last run, so decided to make some seeds, and use everything left over for oil/hash. They stretched quite a bit so I ended up running the 200w light about 10" above the canopy, and the CFL/LED bulb panel almost touching the buds. I was expecting about 2 oz dry as I usually get fluffy buds in there. I'm now looking to pull about 4-5 oz, the buds are feeling solid, branches are sagging, bonus ;) I'm going to have a lot of oil/hash and of course, the original intent, seeds :bigjoint:

Where do you keep the breeding tent to where the other grow is? I do small plant breeding outside and pray I don't get any pollen indoors. I have a marrionberry male that I want to cross every strain with. Unfortunately I don't have room to cross all the strains at the same time.. My patio is pretty small.

Awesome man that's good to hear !

This is my first round running them all together so fingers crossed it'll be a good yield .last run with just the LEDs alone was 8-9 oz which wasn't too bad so hopefully the lec bumps those girls up into 6th gear flat out and gives us a super good yield of frosty goodness:) the a51s I'm running are all white too 4500k

Hey hyroot, when I pollinate I bring it up 2 levels into a spare bedroom, plug the furnace vent and door with towels. I was running it there but the smell gets out of control and I didn't want to spend a lot of time/money on venting/smell management. This time I did the pollination there, then moved the plants/tent back to the basement, different room (under the stairs) and well away from my flower room. I think based on this last run, I'll just take the plants upstairs, seal off the room, pollinate, spray them down after a couple of hours and bring them back down. Once they're preggy's and I have the pollen back in the freezer there's nothing to worry about. Cheers.

Very very nice man those girls are kickin ass big time I'm trying to run a few crosses too this time aswel.

How do you go about stopping the pollen from visiting the other girls and giving them a quicky ha!
Is it a fully sealed tent that exhausts into a carbon filter or something?

Thanks, much bigger than I was expecting. See my reply to hyroot, works well. Once you've pollinated, let them sit for a few hours, spray them down, wipe everything down, then they can go back into a flower room or separate tent like I run. The only time(s) you have to be concerned about quickies (lol) is when you have that pollen out and of course, plants that are in flowering. As long as you manage that stage it's pretty safe. I always stay away from my flower room until I've showered and changed when pollenating. Collecting the pollen from a male is another story, that tent will go back to the closet in the spare bedroom, sealed off while the male is throwing out balls, and while collecting it. It's amazing how much pollen you can see flying around when those males are in full flower. Good thing with the males is there's no significant smell so you can flower them pretty well anywhere you have space and sealed off from your flower area.

Hi all, weekly update @day 26 of 12/12, just shy of the 4 week mark. They are well developed now, colas have formed and found their spots, lots of them too. JTR is 1/2 way, pulled it at day 52 last round. It's frosting up nicely already, love this pheno :bigjoint:

Still noticing some bleaching on PPP, and some tip burn, backing off on the feed for these to 400 ppm, this strain doesn't handle the light intensity or nutes well. Not seeing any sort of stress or bleaching on JTR. They're healthy and filling in nicely with bud though, no signs of slowing down their progress :D

Couple of pics of the Blue Dream @day 8 of 12/12 under the LED's. It's just about to start throwing out flowers, has stretched like crazy, turning into a nice bud ball, approx. 22" D x 30" W x 30" high now, it's caught up to the height of the PPP/JTR batch. Lots of tops coming in and have a feeling it'll stretch some more this coming week.

Hi all, weekly update, Day 33 of 12/12. Busy weekend, pulled a pregnant JTR, my outdoor finished in the garage, which gave me the 2nd Sun System to put over the Blue Dream in the corner.

Plants continue to throw out buds and fatten up. PPP still has some burn/bleaching on the top leaves, not going to worry about it, buds are building well, no stress otherwise, they're drinking well. The JTR plant (bottom-right first pic) is impressive, buds are getting large, about 12 colas on it and getting heavy/dense already. 2 weeks or so left for JTR, PPP's will be about 3 1/2 weeks, they'll start fattening up now, should be some good bud porn coming up :bigjoint:

Was excited to throw the second LEC in the room, didn't move the temps, they're peaking at 83F lights-on and will drop through the night to 80-81F, getting cooler nights here now. Lights off is hitting 70-73F, RH is staying 50-55 lights-on, 55-60 lights off. First night for this light on the Blue Dream, should be interesting to see how it reacts to a third change in lights/spectrum. It's 20"D x 33"W x 36"H after the stretch and starting to throw out a bunch of bud sites. I'd expect to see some significant bud growth this week on this one.

The blue dream is 2 weeks into flower? I'm 3 weeks in with the same strain and barely any sign of buds. Is it because I vegged a week less then you or maybe because Im using hydroponics?

CMH is kilin it

Hope you have trimmer
Hey thanks Pet, liking these for sure, that PPP strain is not liking the intensity, will be keeping an eye out for this with other strains but I'm pretty sure it's strain specific, JTR is not doing it at all and quite happy. Would probably have to move the lights up to 30" to avoid burning/bleaching the PPP's but then I'd suffer on the yield end so will just leave them be, they were fine last round, produced well even with some burn and they're healthy otherwise, will just let them do their thing. This is the last run of that strain. Good punch to it and good yielder but not much in taste, hoping a couple of crosses I have coming up give it some taste and retain the yields ;) Cheers...

Edit: Oh yeah, I have a trimmer, my GF, she's not working right now, loves trimming, and doesn't smoke, the perfect trimmer ;)

Hey Darth, yes 15 days from the flip to 12/12, didn't have the veg cabinet available to do my normal 8-10 days @14/10 too so they went straight from 18/6 to 12/12. I'm thinking it's slow but I had it under an LED until last night, this week it should really take off flowering under the CMH. Could be different phenos, don't know enough about this one, it's a single HSO Blue Dream seed I planted to try and got a nice vigorous pheno from it. I'd heard these were good producers and I can see why now, tons of bud sites developing. Lots of training on this one over 11 weeks of veg, super-cropped, lots of LST and FIM's. Is your HSO from seed or clone? I think you're in Cali and can buy clones, I can't so ran this HSO from seed instead.

My monitoring cam view, I like this but may have to move the camera around to find a good spot for an overall view of the room as I fill it up more. The 3x3 PPP/JTR run and the Blue Dream peaking out from under the camera. The lights-on was last night, the infared shot is this morning, I like the IR shots, they highlight the colas/bud sites well...

Nothing to do with this thread but bud porn is never out of place ;) These are some shots from a JTR I just pulled into the dark from my pollen chucking tent. The JTR buds usually frost up well but this one was amazing, just smothered in frost :) This one had the following pollen painted on: JTR, Blueberry, and Ace of Spades, one branch each, the rest is some personal smoke and the seeded bud remains go into the oil/hash/edibles bin :bigjoint:

I was amazed by the yield/density this round, no fluff, same LED spot light I'd used a couple of times, threw in a mix of CFL's and LED bulbs to raise the heat and ended up yielding at least twice what I had in the previous 2 runs with the LED only.

It was the first seed I planted and was female. It is blue dream for sure and I have one in the veg room from seed as well. I did top it so I have so many bud sites. Maybe, 12 tops, I dunno. There are hardly any buds though since I switched it 12/12 3 weeks ago. I'm gonna have to bust out the 4x4 tent and really rock the shit out of my grow. I want to have at least 5 plants flowering at any time. Thanks for all your advice. Yep, in so cal. The temperatures likely played a huge role in why my plant is being weak. I hope she will start having buds next week. I'm sooo impatient!
