Hey Gang

I understand growing..building my own equipment..not so much(chuckle)
Looks like a few of you have really taken it to the next level..congrats! I just want to thank those of you, who have and continue to educate the rest
of us with what you have learned..I cont inue to try to "pay it forward" where I can..
I'm focused on Auto-flowers for outdoor..Indoor, during off season, I try to breed the best genetics with the intention of creating plants that flourish and produce in my Canadian backyard..( not some 50g smurf) ..that said, winter months give me the opportunity to breed and focus on traits and cannabinoids indoor. I have been using several LED lights, but rolling around the idea if building a small "modular" quantum rig(s)..My 3 Spaces are about 2.5x5 ft..

A few questions..

First, Can I buy a quantum LED driver with the intention if adding/expanding more boards to it for it to drive a future time (wired in series)? For example..buying 2 drivers..putting a single quantum board on each, but having the option to add an additional quantum board to each driver (2 boards/driver) I can wire a house, just not sure of how these units work) :(
Any suggestions?

Been looking at the Samsung chips..but how are the boards laid out some better light spectrum that others?

What kelvin should I be look at 3500k? Does that cover the spectrum enough?

I'm looking to put together one or two solid but modestly priced rig(s)..perhaps even buying some older model boards (120) rather than v2's .to cut some economic corners to get less efficient but greater wattage for the $?

And light penetration..how is that influenced? The light itself..quantum vs led, brand? Trying to bug hunt on these boards..some have mentioned similar wattages on lights..but the
Lumens below can often be far different..obviously some efficiency issue I dont yet understand.

Is Alibaba worth a try..cost/ hassle? Better more economic source?

Living in Canada..with our equivalent of a northern peso means were paying over 30% more..mind you..the fact that we are not paying sanction premiums up here for Chinese stuff (as far as I know) might make it an option?

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated..Thanks.

Toad

P.S and hopefully this would help numerous other as well...Ive spent a great deal of time combing through boards..just havent found
My answers...

Drivers seem to be offered in aprox. 120 watt increments. For the 12.5 sq ft of floor space you're trying to light, I would look at a 320 watt driver to power your fixture. 3 Quantum boards or whatever light strips you would like to fill out your fixture should work perfectly.

Digikey in canada is a good source to buy diy products..

I personally like a mix spectrum.. 3000k..and 4000k.. More 3000k than 4000k..

Good luck..
I am very happy with my build. Intend to build another for my veg and cloning sites real soon. Probably be the exact same build but with wago connectors and thicker wire.
