LED bulbs for plant growth, which is best?

The only part that matters is the light source. Not the driver, not the heat sinks, fancy frame or connectors. You can get 6 Vero 29c for 200 bucks.

Anything outside that parameter you are paying too much.

How hard will you drive them?

How will you keep them cool?

How will you mount them?

You should be using Citizen COBs for an entry level fixture.

You'll be wasting those Veros.

I will repeat you should stop posting this Nonsense because you just keep showing you don't know jack about this subject.

I just got a couple of these (cw+ww) and cut off the reflectors, they light up really warm and come with little heatsinks and fans inside them.
Pretty good price per watt, if you ask me. I didn't bother going for fancy storebought leds, I went straight for chinese pre-fab.
I might make a thread about them if I get good results, I've got one over some clones and I've got one over a single small flowering plant.

Using the growmau5 code i got 2 vero 29 3 cob kits, with meanwell 2100ma drivers, active cooled heat sink, fan and hanging kit for $418 to my door. $209 each. Pretty good value if you ask me. Nice kits too. And for an added bonus, they grow some pretty got dayum good nugs. IMG_0488.JPGIMG_0487.JPGIMG_1273.JPGI added the reflectors tonite. IMG_1059.JPG

The number don't lie, this isn't Bro-Science.

You describe an entry level fixture you plan to build, driving the COBs under 700 mA?

That's entry level.

You can accomplish that with Citizen COBs, save some money to build a legit fixture.

And you are who?

You might want to do a little research before you make such obviously incorrect statements.

This isn't Bro-Science.

That's a steal!

Where did you get that?!

Did the big logo of the company not give it away in the 2nd pic. Look again it's the same company you swear TastyLed is cheaper than.

Bro-science?? You don't even understand LED efficiency dumbass. First you talk shit about citizen cobs and now here I see you recommending people to get them as entry level fixtures. The only thing entry level is your understanding of Leds. Dumbass.

Rapid led. Not trying to get caught in the crossfire though! I crunched ALOT of numbers when buying this setup. I couldve built a better light but not for the initial cost. This was by far the best value i could find, hands down. My buddy has a 4x4 with 3 of these. 2@3000°k and 1@3500°. 780w at the wall lighting a 4x4 for $660, shipped. He forgot to use the discount code.

The other members were right about some of you LED guys being brick-headed jackasses.

At your wattage level you aren't gaining anything notable against the entry level COBs.

You'd have better luck running them at @ 700 mA.

To each his own.

Basically, you could build the same light for less using entry level COBs for your entry level panel.

Do what?!

I didn't see that on their site anywhere, do you have a link?

After getting these I decided three would be the magic number @ 1400 mA passive.

If I could get three actively cooled @ 2100 mA I'd be cooking with bacon grease!

I actually priced my build from several companies, I settled with Tasty because it was the best deal I could find.

I take that back, I did see this kit.

Those aren't Vero29Cs.

I have the "C" variant.

Those are the "D" variant.

They have to be driven hard to perform well, at the same amperage my COBs would wreck that fixture.

Running 4 "entry level" CXM22's 3500k 90 CRI w/ a Meanwell 240h 54b, driven @ 50w a cob, about 7 inches from tops, not giving a fuck!
I promise those bulbs aren't doing as good as the "entries". Lol
Peace

With the c @ that drive current you would be at 440w!!!! This would be like yours driven @1050ma. Like i said, i couldve built a better setup, more efficient, better spread using more cobs/quantum boards but wouldve been double the money to do what i was trying to do. I plan on making a rack that will run the perimeter of the tent with passive, low drive current chips as supplemental. Like a spotlight in each corner. To be on the topic of the post, i use cree 8.5 watt bulbs with modified diffusers, i also have 2 of the "100w equivelent", i forget the actual wattage on those. Built for $60, bulbs included. Works for me. Only use as a veg light though. Would need 2.5 of these in each tent to get close to what my cob setups are putting out and that would just be ridiculous. And not as good. And fuck wiring that shit!!! For another $40 i would save myself the agony. IMG_0794.JPG
