LED lighting users? NEOSOL DS question

hey i have a quick question for anyone who has ran LED systems for a good length of time. Someone i know recently swapped his t-5 veg systems out for solar flare 220 systems.. because the heat reduction was so great he was thinking of switching out his 6-1000w. HPS systems in exchange for the NEOSOL DS systems.. has anyone ran them in flower? or have anything negative to say about the LED system in flower?

I've never ran them but know people who do and who like them... i always see negatives to never being able to replace a single bulb or having to replace a whole light system in some cases when a board goes bad... but thats my opinion i wanna see who's running good LED systems and can speak about first hand use.

Blurple panels like that are the old way of doing things. The guy's in the LED section are using COB led's now days, which can actually outperform HID tech in terms of efficiency, though it is rather expensive.

i don't mean to be the lazy guy not looking up old posts but do you know of what brand is truly outperforming everyone else?

Do u run LED? he had me thinking about switching my veg over to LED just simply to reduce any amount of excess heat and run less energy ... but i also don't fix what isn't broke.. sometimes :)

Optic grow lights is the only company using bridgelux/cree cobs at the moment. Area-51 is supposed to be coming out with one soon as well. These are good panels, better than any of the blurple panels. However still tend to suffer from the 'over driven/poorly cooled' structure that most commercial panels do. The people who are way outperforming with LED is the DIY builder.

I do, but I don't have a good run in with them yet. Just preliminary testing as I've been restructuring a lot to reduce overall power consumption, and having to relearn a few things.

I'd checkout greengeans thread in the led section, he just did a run with GG#4 under som apatchee blruple LED's along side a budget DIY build and a high quality DIY build.

thanks for that info i definitely appreciate it .. technology like that moves so fast that if its not your cup of tea your out of the loop... and i know very little about LED.. i always was anti LED due to seeing a friend change his whole room out for the OLD ORIGINAL led discs/saucers... his 8 week flower looked like a HID 4th week the buds were so small with ZERO density that since that time i haven't even had a bit of interest in the technology. Its like you said though the NEO is old shit the COB is new and I'm sure next year the technology will be on a even higher level... once its stable and consistent id be a buyer but i would hate to drop 2000-3000$ and next year have my technology be considered old...

but everything is so hyped when it comes out i remember last summer here when michigan they really started pushing the induction lighting and everyone was going nuts over it then they flowered under it and it wasn't poop compared to a 1000 watt HID ... veg was good but flower was boo boo..

I'm a firm believer that when it comes to LEDs the spectrum should be perfect because you can make it so. Idk how these awful purple spectrums came about and still are out there selling for thousands, not that they won't work, but theres so many better options with LEDs IMO. There's some REALLY informative and lengthy posts out there about the possibiliies when you DIY a panel the correct way with proper parts. I've built some smaller test panels with fully customizable spectrums (down to the nm) that have worked great.
Are they pricey? Of course. Good cree LEDs ran me around $5 a pop when I built mine. But considering the cost of the big panels these days a little reading and resourcefulness goes a long way.
