I’m planning a grow in a 5x10 tent and would like some help finding the best led setup for the area. I’m use to 1000w hps grows and know how to manage those. With led there is so much misinformation put out by shady company’s I feel that you will be able to help more than my own research

what brand Light is best for the setup?

I would like one light setup for flower and veg (3500k?)
Preferably under $2500

also any tips on what needs to be done differently from hps grows such as temps,Nutes,rh exc

Thank you in advance! So much knowledge is on here and I’d love to tap into it

$2500 should get you whatever you want for a flowering light to cover your space, if you want full spectrum start to finish, id probably buy oards from @Prawn Connery , those highlite qbs are legit.

What size of space do you plan to use for flower?

Personally i like strip led fixtures, they get optimal coverage and hit top pffd/umol #s
Quantum boards are also doing very well.

Heres some of the top dogs in the led world, theres many others, these are just the guys i like most.

@Prawn Connery sells the Highlites qbs, they are probably the best on the market and are growing dank.
@RainDan is the timber rep, cant go wrong throwing a fatty vs or a few 4vs fixtures in that space either.
@diyled sells some amazing strip lights
@Greengenes707 sells PLC photoboost strips/fixtures
@welight owns Cutter electronics and is a top notch dude, they sells strips and qbs, diy or pre built.
@Stephenj37826 is the HLG rep, they sell qbs and are an amazing company to deal with , according to the reviews from their customers.

As you can see, there are many many top of the line options, cant really go wrong with any of them.

Thank you for the fast and detailed response! I’ll look into those lights, I already had timber in mind just based of some research I have done. What kind of setup do you have with strip leds? I’ll have to look into those more. Great info

I should also mention that I would like a plug and play unit ready to use out of the box
I think all of or most of the companies i listed sell pre built fixtures, im not 100% sure if Prawn does or not to be honest.

Timber and HLG are leading the way , Timber with the cobs and HLG with the qbs
Cutter also sells the pre builts that look real good and use top bin leds.

No problem, glad to help. You cant go wrong with Timber, they are putting out amazing numbers and their customer service is second to none.

I have 3 fixtures, each is 3`x4`

my room is 7`x14`

heres a pic of 2 of the fixtures above tables
Those look nice, are they custom built?

Yes i built them using cutter strips.

@diyled sells prebuilt strip fixtures that are very similar( his are made better than mine ofcourse lol)

Also amare sells the bar8 for another strip fixture option.... @Mikenike is running a side by side using the amare strip light, hes making them look real good.

Pacific light concepts have what i consider to be the best strips being sold, only issue is back logs and wait times.

id be tempted to go chinese/fotop/meiju. its deffo worth considering...

I have nearly 4000w of legit HLG/Samsung stuff and id normally stay pretty loyal... but the saving are massive...as are the buds.

see here;

Its probably a gamble id take these days.

but HLG are awesome and their customer service is amazing, Robin and Stephen are tops. you wont get that from china.

Keep your environment warm, keep an eye on leaf temp and root zone. IMO the lack of IR is a biggie.

Thank you I’ll look into it! Maybe do half and half

One really important factor in your setup is formfactor and size off the light:
The bigger the light is the lower you would be able to hang it. But on the other hand a light so big that you cant reach all corners for adjusting height it might be better with a higher hanging smaller fixture.

Personally i think the most important factor in diy is being able to build a light that works for you rather than cost reduction.
