less plants more yield

Ive been experimenting with more plants in the same amount of space. Same size pots, same veg time and same amount of lighting. I wanted to try this because I had some spots in my trellis that I couldn't completely fill in. I would do the necessary tucking, pinching and tying down and still would have some spots where light would leak through. However my yield has gone down. My goal was to see an increase obviously. My canopy got thicker. I produced more smaller sized colas. Is there something I am missing or should I just go back to less plants? It's strange that I am getting less. Not even the same amount that Im used to.

There's a lot of factors that will affect the yield. Increasing the number of plants to fill the gaps in the net is only one variable.

A good bench mark figure would be 1 pound for every square metre of canopy space, use this to compare your own numbers and measure how successful your grows are when it comes to yield. Are you under or over and by how much? Then look at every variable in the grow and see what can be tweaked.

When filling a screen or net traditionally you use less plants with more veg time. I change it up a little and add more plants to get less veg time. You will always have a few holes that don’t get 100% filled in. IMG_9497.jpegIMG_9467.jpeg

how much light are you giving them? maybe your lighting is just low for all those plants?
