The Casino lobby has kept the tax they pay on gambling profits to 2-1/2%, Christ our state sales tax is 7-1/2%. If they would tax gambling profits like sales tax, this state could have the best infrastructure of any state in the union. Every time the politicos want to raise the tax, the Casino lobby threatens to pull campaign funds, In Nevada, the Casinos rule. If a new law infringes on their turf, they spend millions to keep it off the books. It took 20 years and 5 petition ballots to get smoking eliminated from restaurants in Nevada, and they fought it tooth and nail every time, finally passing in '06'. Politicos don't fuck with Casinos. If a politician has been favorable to casino causes, when they get out of office, they can be assured of a high paying job in a casino.
