Yes a magnetic HPS ballast. And dont give that easy and say "ok, ok". Do some research on your own. I wouldnt listen to me if I were you. LOL Really, look into it a bit deeper. You will be glad you did down the road. And +rep for good questions and a fun discussion.

I am. Im reading on it as we speak. Still cheaper to just buy a hps combo ballast and a mh conversion bulb and basically get same results for alot less

Hows that. Oh ya. Just stick your MH bulbs in a HPS ballast. They will work just fine. But an HPS in a MH. Wont work, no igniter. Then you need a conversion bulb. Which by the way are incredibaly inefficent as for as light output goes. Basically conversion bulbs suck. This i am certain of. One ballast plus two bulbs vs. One ballast and one bulb. I will stick with one ballast, one bulb. And how do you know you are going to get the same results? Have you done a side by side? You obviously have your mind set. I wish you the best in your endeavors.
