Lots of good info flowing my way and I appreciate it all, thank you everyone. Renfro got my attention with the 1000 DE CMH idea, and I am looking at those now too. I am just trying to grow as efficient as possible, keeping the electric down as well as the temps. I do not have central air, and will probably putting in a window unit in the room the tent is in. I honestly never even looked into led till the other day. Some thread have a link to Timber, curious I gave it a look.

Saw the Fatty VS, not going to lie kinda fell in love as it is sexy as hell IMO. Started looking more into it, and here I am really considering it.
I think I’m going to buy the fatty or the redwood vs!

I emailed Dan a couple times with some simple questions and he got back to me quickly. I asked for some pictures, he directed me to their Instagram, honestly my first time on Instagram. I liked what I saw. So as it stands I am giving myself a week to think about things, and if I still feel the same way as I do now I am pulling the trigger on the Fatty VS. To me it feels like a solid unit that will serve me well for sometime, and maximize my space, and probably grow some good bud.

Depending on if you take care of the unit how hard you veg and flower you'll end up getting 5-10 years out of it. And you can add/ upgrage / components pretty easily if you needed or wanted too.

That and Dan is super awesome at customizing which diodes ect he includes with their fixtures and kits.

Good choice. You will be happy with that light. I was gonna buy a Timber but went with parts from cobkits to build my own cob setup. These LED lights have come a long way since I last tried one back in 2009. I am impressed so far. I have been a HPS guy so long and to see CMH and LED lights that can get the job done is really cool.

Thanks for the replies! Even tough I have pretty much made up my mind, I am still giving myself to the end of the week to finalize it. Its a decent chunk of change for a new hobby.

I have looked all over the internet and really haven't seen any bad things about Timber, maybe someone prefers another brand, but thats about it. Also not one bad thing about Dan, I told my friend the other day I think this guy is really Keanu Reeves!

Question.
In my 5x5 tent, how many plants could I comfortably grow? Would 4-6 in 5gal. pots be cool?

I grew 4x 5gal plants in 4x4 spaces, or better put 1 plant per 2x2 of space. I would be happy going with 7 gal in my space too but 10gal is a waste imo.
So for you I would possibly go with 4-6plants 7 or 10 gal in 5x5 or 7-9 plants in 5 gal.

Nice to see someone take time to think about the purchase too.

I'd do 4 in 5 gallon fabric pots scrogged but that's me.
Ive done that in smaller spaces and by the last 3rd of flower even watering everyday your just on the point of been too dry.
Id go 7s with 4 in a 5x5 me thinks.
When them stems are holding maximum weight the last thing you want is a flop about from the coco drying.
But a good option would be automated watering twice a day late flower.

Thanks guys. The automated watering system sounds cool. The new light will be the upgrade for the second grow. Maybe for my third I will consider a watering system. Curious how much would that cost?

You can do automated watering for fairly cheap. Drip drain to waste is fairly cheap to setup.

Small pump
Tote for reservoir
Manifold/bubbler
Lines/hoses to go to pot.
timer

I just bought everything from amazon for automation for under $100 Canadian

I also recommend you get another 315 not 1 630 if you go with CMH. Nothing is packing on the risen like CMH at the moment. Get a LED for you veg room if you decide to buy one. I personally like CMH over LED all day for atleast the potency of you crop.

Thanks as always everyone!. Automated watering I am down for that now. Last night when I saw it get mentioned I was getting ready to leave for work so I didn't have time to look into anything. For some crazy reason I thought it was probably like another $1k, don't know why I thought that. But after Diggs99's post I am in for the next grow. Diggs99 if you could please share the gear you purchased I would be most grateful, or anyone else for that matter. I am all for making my set up as easy as possible.

Late to the thread, but if it's me, I just add another 315. They're fantastic lights and two of those side by side would be more than enough and you don't wind up shelling out the extra cash for the 630.

Sure bud no problem.

Couple questions first, how many plants to you want drip lines running to?

Do you plan to expand in the future?

Just want to know how big you want the setup to be for.

Are you in the us?

No real plan for expanding, just trying to maximize what I got. Only planning on running 4-6 plants at a time, I am in the US.

Thanks Blue and Taco, you both raise valid points. Even though I have pretty much made up my mind on the Timber, this is why I am taking the time to think it all over. Today at work I was thinking about CMH a lot.
