Light Question

My first grow journal (as Riddleme) here oh so many years ago was to show folks how cheap and easy it was to get a personal stash. I grew a little 22 inch tall plant with 97 actual watts of flouro light, a 65 watt cfl and a 32 watt T9 and harvested 1 and 1/2 ounces for bout $100 total

My only issue is, I finish an ounce in a week and a half. Haha. I'm just saying it might make it easier for him. Not everyone got his Boy Scout Gardening Badge.

How many CFLs/what type and amount of light are you planning to use, and what do you actually expect to get from it? I'll tell you right now if it's realistic.
1x300w dual spec 2700/6400k
2x80w led (red,blue,white,ir,uv)
Fast buds green crack auto (when sprouts)
Hoping for 2-3 oz
Realistically thinking 2 is achievable

I'm going to be using cheap lighting and think I should be able to work magic with it lol hopefully anyway ...

All depends on what your expecting from it , if you wanna spend 50-100 on lights and do 10 plants you would struggle , if you put same amount to light 1 plant you could do just fine :)
Look to be brutally honest, CFL's are something a 14 year old child would use growing a plant in the up stairs attic.
Use them of a set of T5 for seedlings or that, but not an actual grow. They'll cause slow bud growth.

I use HPS, purely because I grow in a tool shed here in the UK & I need the heat because it would freeze the balls of you at the best of times.

I agree with olive green, get a cob light. It's my next investment.
Or why not try making one?
Or LED?
All I'm saying is a CFL grow will be a disapointment.

I spent a little over $50 on my first CFL grow. I got right at an ounce. It is doable. I used 6 23w bulbs. A few 5500k and a few 2700k. I wanted 6500k but none of my local stores carry them.

Where abouts in the u.k is this tool shed ?? .. I'll come keep it warm , CFL is fine for me , not growing for profit or to never have to buy it again lol simply for the love of the plant , 1 at a time , endless choice of strain , few nice treats a year of a strain I know is true and of my choice ..

Do you really only want an ounce for that amount of time and energy? For 89w, I get the PPFD of 400-600w of HPS. I guarantee I can get a QP minimum per plant, dry. I use two of these 89w units and grow two plants.

I mean, no need to be so aggressive, but this is what I meant earlier. It won't be worth the time invested if you don't invest in it monetarily with seriousness. You can't compare a cheap CFL grow to COB or HID grow. Unless you're @RM3, the Fluorescent Magician.
That was far from aggressive man may have been a matter of fact but not aggressive

:blsmoke: your not the first to question the shed lol

Well then fair enough, but keep in mind the length of the grow also.
It can be off putting waiting so long & only getting a little.
I'd usually grow 32 ladies, pulling me a slightly dangerous Amount every 4 months & taking into consideration "Johnny law" as I call it, but I'm a pretty heavy smoker & around here you either grow your own or buy some of the most expensive lowest quality you've ever smoked.
Jamican reggie would be an improvment.

Shoot for around an oz per plant, but you'll need to watch PH, use quality nutes, your grow medium, environment (co2) (air), etc.
If you improve the light, you'll probably double your yield.

Sorry, I'm baked & rambling.

Yes. For how much I consume it was worth it. Electric is included with my rent so in influx in usage doesn't effect me. Not everyone is out to grow the biggest plant they can. If a small plant is enough, then no need to drop the money on a COB. Simple as that.

If you think you are getting anything worth smoking for a $20 Investment your flat out wrong. $20 is maybe 1 cfl and one bag of plain soil. So that leaves you with no nutes, crappy light, no air flow, no smell control and lastly no smokeable product.
Its all about prospective, where I am at hid lighting is cheap https://denver.craigslist.org/ele/5858091214.html
If you don't buy new the budget is stretched a lot farther. it can be done I could use that light an old bucket and dirt out of my backyard no nutrients and I'd still have something to smoke

You've got the wrong idea, but whatever you say. :eyesmoke:

I honestly don't. I don't grow for profit or to share. I grow for myself.
But you should always be trying to make the most of your space. You should always be trying to yield as much as you can in the space you have, otherwise you'd be better off buying from the Market instead of going through the hassle of growing your own. When you have pics of one harvest under those CFLs, come talk to me. I want to see.

Can be this led bulb used for 1 plant? It has got 806lm which I think is enough for 1 plant, and temperature of light is 6500K. 6500K should be good for growth phase.
8k lumens is what I read was the low end of lumens for a happy plant. My well equipped, but nothing fancy, Ghetto Grow set up cost me a little over $300. Spent a little extra on cfls, neuts. and additives but it was worth it.
