light schedule question

I am going to move my Ladies outside in the next few days and have a light schedule question. They are in their 3rd week of flowering. They are full of buds. I want to move them outside to free up space and for smell issues (my wife has no idea about them) but my light schedule is the problem. I have them on a 12/12 cycle on at 9pm off at 9am so that I am home to tend to them during the envening. They sit in the dark when i am away from home. Now if i move them outside the light schedule will be completely oposite from what they are used to.

Should I leave them in the dark for 24 hr then put out them outside or should I put them outside and have them under 24hr of light for the first day?

Any advise will help.

I would have them get 24 hours of night.... but i don't think it would really matter.

thanks, that's what i figured. I will prepare them for the move and let you know how they are doing in the next few days.

Hopefully the sun will help them out even more than the CFL's i've been using. Don't get me wrong, the CFL's work well, but I am a strong beleiver of nature's greatest light source. it is suposed to be warm and sunny for the next few days so it will help them ajust.

I'll stay in touch, If you think of anything else i should be doing plaes let me know. I don't want to shock tehm by putting tehm outside.

can you explain to me how they can turn to herms? I figured that the sun light would be a better situation for them. how can it cause problems? I am a little confused on this.

it's not the sun that would cause the problem. just simply moving them into a new environment is what causes the stress that could turn them hermie.

I understand now. What would be the percentage of this hapenening? And how would I be able to help them so that it doesn't happend. I have to move them outside. I am leaving them in their original pots (aprox 2 gallon or 10"). I will not be transplanting them into the ground or new pots. They are remaining in the pots tehy are in right now. Can i start introducing them slowly to outside. Like a few hours here and there until i have the full day. Or is that even worst?

ok I can try that!

so tonight I'll switch the lights so that they have a 24 hour dark cycle. Then tomorow I will slowly introduce them to the backyard.

Would you say a few hours a day to start. 4 hours max. I was thinking putting them out in the morn and back to the CFL's in the afternoon.

What's your opinion on that?

yeah, I would put them out there during the times when the sun is not as hot, like the morning.... probably about 2-3 hours the first few days to a week, then 4-5 hours for a few days to a week, then so on and so forth.

please keep in mind that this is just an opinion, I have never moved plants outside from inside, or vice versa.

ok. I'll give it a try. I apreciate your opinion.

So this does not make sence to me. I was going to start my summer girls inside for a few weeks then put them outside. That's why I want to move the ladies out right now. My summer girls will be like three weeks into veg when i put them out for the rest of summer and harvest in fall. How is this so different than what i am trying to do right now with my ladies?

I have to say i love this site. Never have anyone to ask question on this tpic. I try to ask the mother-in-law but its just general plant questions and she usually is not much help.

I'm pretty sure your supposed to adjust the young plants also.......
it's just worse when they are flowering cause that's when your more paranoid about it. so you think about it more. people don't generally think about it when the plants are young. they just throw them out there.

Got it. When they are young you have no idea what they are to start off with.

Ok so i will be working at it for the next few weeks and go from there. i will keep you posted on how everything is going.
