Light schedule switch question

Yo whats good growers,
I got a question,
My plants are at the tail end of the flowering process. THe buds are formed and close to being done. What would happen if I switched to 16-18 hours of light at the end of the cycle? The plant is rather large and there are some areas of the plant that could use more lighting&i wanted to move this light around every couple hours, the trichomes are clear meanwhile under the most light they are cloudly and much more vibrant. So, I wanted to take one of the lights and move it to the side of the plant to help the buds come along better but i didnt want to take away from the current schedule.i know its a bit confusing but if you understand, shoot me an answer.

So basically after the 12 hour shift of the lights being on shining down from above, what would happen if after those 12 hours i kept the light on focused on just the far side of the plant, its rather large.

around budsites you would start getting a lot of new tiny leafs. it would be a nightmare to trim.

Harvest the buds that are "ready" and leave the lowers and what you feel isn't finished to mature up a bit
Thats what im going to do. I just wanted to see if there was an end around so it all gets done at the same time. THe plant grew out of control bc i underestimated the time it would take for this one plant that took longer than expected to switch into flowering.
