light spread for two 3x3 tents

Got about 15 veros as flowering setup, Im planning to enhance it, I got two 3X3 tents which I would like to separate to two storeys, each storey would have 5veros running on hlg 320h 1750ma current or I was thinking buying bigger driver and run them at 2100 ma, no optics, just reflector, sog flowering, Im wondering if it would be enough for good flowering of each storey which is 1,5ft in height, still 3x3, hope you get me guys. Im wondering what I should buy as upgrade to this setup if some QBs or another 5 veros, or cheap 1212 CLAs , I would like to get the best bang for my buck.
Thank you

Don't use reflectors of any kind in a reflective tent. Reflectors are made to keep the light contained to an area. Like in an open room. In a tent, it's better to have it go all over.

Is 1.5 feet of vertical space a typo?

That is THEE most well known REFELECTOR in the COB game. You don't need them in a tent. But you can use them if you want.
If they wont increase the PAR, specially when my height would be basically only 3,5ft, or if they wont get the absolute right angle for the lights, I mean I would like to buy another chips for that price instead of buying these holders and ledil reflectors
edit,, its to late for my brainz, I was simply trying to ask if no reflectors would not create light loss, less par but I bet not

Especially in such a small place
i wouldnt do cobs with 3.5ft of vertical space check out strips. run the low and the plants can grow right up to them
I do agree that you should not use reflectors.
Thank you guys for your help, If I would use the whole 7ft height 3x3 would those reflectors be needed? Im just wondering If I would ever find use in them.
are the QBs still best in terms of efficiency, G/W? what is the best usage for a chip (best one from what I read is currently luminus cxm 32 not sure about the nr.) is it best for whole rooms? tent is just 2,5ft higher to the top so about 9,5ft total
wish you guys a beautiful day!
@pulpoinspace
nice grow brother, are those some kind of Bridgelux qbs? how was the taste of that nicole x banana?

the QBs in my journal are from HLG (qb96ev2). I also use bridgelux (vero29c) cobs sometimes. thank you for the kind words! the nicole is a few weeks away i will keep you updated!

NO REFLECTORS IN A TENT
Thank you for help
for future reference, if I would paint a room with extra fuckin bright white, like very white and the height would be about 9,5ft, they would be needed there ? and its the very last question :)

I was in a hurry, did not realized that the bud was from last stardust grow, that previous grow you did with veros? can you compare the veros to your qb or is it too soon to do it? does the QBs give better light spread, par and g per w ratio? What is your tent size/how many veros did you used? what is the total output of those Qbs? I searched for hlg qb96ev2 but did not find notthing except horticulture lighting group which sells pre made products.
Do you use anti pesticides or beneficials ? Just wondering thats why so much question and I like the buds !
Thank you very much

Again. Reflectors are used to contain the photons and direct them downwards. Used in OPEN AREAS where there are no reflective walls or material surrounding the grow area.
Now If you were in a 9ft high area, it doesn't mean you're going to hang your lights that high.
Unless you were running spectrum kings or something like the new Elite 96 Quantum Boards at like over 200w each. In that case, higher hanging would be needed.
Also, if the area you're talking about IS your grow area, then no reflectors are needed. If it's just a room, say 8'X12' and you're going to use a 4'X4' corner then reflectors might bea good idea to have in the lights on the outside edges where there are no walls.
If your area of 4X4 was right in the middle of the room, you'd use reflectors on all of the lights.
I hope this clears things up for you.

Hello. The previous grow was vegged under the Veros and flowered under the HLG QB96 Elite V2 (https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/quantum-boards/products/qb96-elite-v2-quantum-board-engine). But i have ran that strain under both lights. The QBs and the COB without reflectors offer very similar results in my opinion. As far as spread and GPW its a wash. But i do feel the added red/far reds of the QB96 make for stinker and stickier buds. for these grows i am using a 3x3 tent with 400w. I run vero29 c version on 1400ma driver (70v * 1.4A = ~100w each) and the quantum boards i run in parallel on a larger driver (600h-54b) and just use a potentiometer to dim to 400w in the 3x3. I did this so I can use the QBs in a 4x4 later on when I have more space. I use some organic insecticides (Capt Jacks Dead bug Brew w/ spinosad and safer insecticidal soap) and i treat my plants preventatively a couple times in veg so that i don't have to spray anything during flower. I don't use added beneficials specifically. Mostly synthetic nutes. However, i use organic soil with bennies, and I have read that some products in my nutrient line (House and Garden) do contain them.

No problem man i enjoy answering questions about my favorite hobby. hopefully i answered them all.

cheers.

Yes it does clear up things and I fully understand what you meant and the purpose of reflectors, thank you very much, I never knew that Spectrum King is still in business, but I remember him, when I first found out about this amazing tech, then I found realstylez and guys like supra, It was really hurting my whole being not going in for that kind of long time, since it was 2014 back then :)

Thank you for the link, I was thinking about adding some red stripes to the vero setup, saw some people here doing it, That is indeed a nice setup with the veros, I only got the 36v version, I would like to drive them little harder 1750 or 2100 ma, hope they would not create mega heat. Wish you a good luck for your future expanding projects, will watch progress :) I read somewhere that HG got beneficials in root excelator (or whatever it was called) too, it seems that it works well for you, so the insecticides you use in flower too ? have a great day btw :)

Yeah there are lots of ways to add red diodes to an existing COB set-up. To be honest though COBs do amazing by themselves and the benefits of added red isn't anything game changing in my opinion, but why not?
As long as you have an appropriate heatsink running them that hard should not be an issue. I think the rapid LED heatsinks do up to 80w so 36*2.1 should be okay. I would recommend though that you use an infrared thermometer to test operating temperature of your COBs and heatsinks to make sure everything is well within spec. They're cheap on amazon.

That is what I have read about root excelurator too. However, I can't be sure. Hard to find solid information on their products but they work for me so I keep using them.

I haven't had to spray a pesticide in flower for a while, but a couple runs back I had two-spotted mites brought in from clones. I sprayed them with Green Cleaner and it seemed to work really well. The only pesticides I use in flower are essential oils which suffocate the insects, rather than anything with an "active ingredient". Even then i use them more during "the stretch" than flower. Up until about day 15. Some other ones I hear good things about besides Green Cleaner are Purecrop1 and 86 Mites and Mold. They have things like clove oil, soybean oil, corn oil, which to me seems more palatable to smoke than Neem, Spinosad or Pyrethrin. I wouldn't want to spray anything on the buds though so I would say 2nd week of flower would be the cutoff, even for these more mild pesticides.

You have a great day too!
