light usage

hi all 1st post, ive been using a 600 w light for a fair time now, could you tell me if i add another 600w would that make me more likely to raising alarms with electric usage thanks

I worked for a company that makes smart grid technology. Look it up on google. Simple answer.. YES. In fact, a smart grid can pinpoint your 600 W spikes and ID you as a grower just as easily with ONE 600W hps. It literally takes the electric company 10 seconds to find you if you're growing...

UNLESS.. get a second 600W and split your area in 2. One 600 on for 12 hours, then the other on for 12 hours. That way, there are 0 spikes and you're 100% invisible.. even to a smart grid. That's right.. grow more AND be less visible than you are right now.

The electric company has no idea what that 600w is being used for. My computers (combined) draw more than that. What? Start the electric dryer and, "we got a grower in sector seven g!". I doubt it.

Smart grid tech is how power distribution networks work together to provide reliable power. It doesn't have a damn clue as to what the power is use for.

So people that run 8 lights are immediatly arrested as a "grower"? what about running 8 lights and putting flowers in your system... they gonna break down your door, shoot your dog and arrest you for an electricity bill? BOLLOCKS!

Having worked for a maker of the best smart grid solution out there, I can tell you that you're 100% wrong on that. Sorry. I've seen your posts and you're very knowledgeable. What I can tell you is that they know a 600W burst at 12 hour intervals. They spot that easily. They're not just used for reliability. They are also used for audits of net segments and individual homes, per warrants.

Again.. I'm not saying this on speculation or reading google. I helped design the way they run.

As a note, they aren't LOOKING for growers. However, if they're issued a warrant, they can tell with certainty a spike on exact 12 hour intervals at any level.. 250, 400, 600, 1000. And let me tell you, since power companies in the US are partial government regulated limited monopolies, a power auditing warrant is SIMPLE to get. These were all questions we had to run over in smart grid design.

Really, you guys.. not trying to be a douche.. just letting you know the absolute facts on the latest tech.

Yeah.. and don't be such a douche, man. Try asking questions instead of opening your mouth and puking up garbage you've got no clue about. You've got jack for smart grid in the UK and, unlike us, you haven't had to live in 8 years of bullshit tyranny under an asshole of a president who sanctioned this exact use of SG tech for the explicit purpose of terrorizing people like us.

The power company doesn't even have a clue how much power your home is using without the meter. :lol:

Your bullshit radar blows, then, too. With a smartgrid, your meter, a small linux server, feeds up to a central database server. Nobody ever comes to your house anymore because your usage is tracked centrally, in real time. This is good for the consumer because you can usually track your usage on the energy company's website and know precisely how much your electric bill is based on your usage. No more estimating. All usage points, are able to be graphed, on demand. The company I worked for had the usage graphs right on a customer accessible site. In dealing with getting the graphs off the database server (my team did this with cacti.. look it up), we were able to see exactly what happens with powered appliances and our test house (we owned several houses for testing all kinds of appliances) had a 400 W halogen in it that we used for testing graphs, internet over power lines (yep.. 25 Mbps bi-directional!). The difference between turning on the washing machine and your computer and all that kind of thing is that a high powered light is CONSTANT and timed. Your computer turns on, draws a shit-ton of power for the boot cycle, then, after it's done with its boot, its usage drops way down and becomes erratic. And they rarely seem 'timed.' Your dishwasher does the same thing and only runs for some 10-30 minutes. Garbage disposals make discernable spikes for a span of a few seconds. Television is failry constant, but not timed. The Halogen was a big step up and immediate. It's as noticeable as a brick wall in the middle of a parking lot because of PERSISTENT DRAW. We tested all these appliances because all of them were being fitted for HANs.. Home Area Networks. This is where the linux server meter is connected to a short wave radio device or bluetooth device that actually reaches out to approved devices - mainly air conditioning, refrigerators and hot water heaters, to date - and controlls their usage to conserve. The halogen was supposedly used for testing commercial installations that have timed lights, like parking lot lights and security lights.

Dude.. you may not want to think people can see this, but they can if there's a smartgrid. I set up 2 fully functioning smart grids BY MYSELF in 2 different major US cities. Saying I don't know what I'm talking about with this is like saying the Pope isn't Catholic. And ask yourself this.. WHY THE FUCK WOULD I LIE?? I'm in my mid thirties and an engineer, man.. I don't give a fuck about paranoia and all that bullshit and I certainly don't have time to learn all this stuff about smart grids for a petty internet disagreement with an ignorant stranger. I'm trying to help people on this site however I can. I happen to have specialized knowledge that I'm sharing to assist that. Now.. you want to make sure we continue old practices of stupidity and ignorance.. go ahead and practice them, but don't try to thwart the efforts of someone who actually knows what the fuck they're talking about and trying to help someone else because of some retarded "bullshit meter." But something you CAN look up to understand more is what happened to a competitor of ours, working with XCEL Energy, in Boulder, CO. People had a fucking shit fit about the smart grid going in there because it IS true to life big brother and I'm not sure if you've been there, but everone and their grandmother grows there. The public versus Boulder smart grid was very publicised, so feel free to look that shit up. You will see the same things I'm talking about here listed in those articles.

As I said before.. they're not out to get you unless they are. If you draw attention to yourself, the government subpoenas any pertinent providers first for more evidence before you even have a clue. We dealt with subpoenas for several different things.. peer to peer sharing (we ran BPL quite successfully.. Google it if bullshit meter or whatever is going off), power theft (people actually run lines to their neighbors' house sometimes) and suspected grows.

Ulitimately, wouldn't you rather be safe? Stagger your lights as I suggested, man. I PROMISE you.. the graph of your power usage shows timered lights more clearly than anything else. That's my last word on it because, ultimately, it's your neck, not mine and you can't force the ignorant to suddenly wake up. 2 12/12 grows of 600W, but switched timing is literally invisible to a smartgrid.
